Are jurors supposed to keep the potential sentence in mind when deciding whether a person is guilty or not? Because if that's what got Casey off, I'm going to be sick.

It's not supposed to...but prosecutors over charging is always an issue.

I have the news on my TV behind me just so I have some background noise and I haven't been listening really that much, but Nancy Grace just said "jackasses". Not a big deal to me, but is she allowed to say that on air?

Yes. Cable rules are different from network TV or radio. Cable is not governed by the FCC

How did the prosecution let that juror by? Yet another failure by them.

There's a special on all of this on MSNBC right now.

Interfering with my weekly Lockup viewings (), but interesting to watch.

I think that was the one whom they tried to can, but were denied because the defense claimed the attempt was racially motivated.

This whole case was a failure in all possible ways.

When are they going to show new lockups?

Also I don't think the prosecution did a good job. The thing is that family seem really strange, so it was hard to believe any of them.

Yeah , the family seems to have many demons to cover up and that hurt the investigation and trial. Like I said some posts back there so a lot to this story we will never know. Everyone involved can write a book and none of us will know the true(or anything close that puts the pieces together) story.

I think there's a new one (in Boston) this weekend.

Anyways, yeah that family is shady as hell. All I could do is shake my head when the mom tried to take the blame for the chloroform searches and all of that, but stumbled through giving her answer and then got caught in the lie when it was revealed that she was at work at the time the searches were made.

And watching that MSNBC special was just frustrating as hell. There were so many things that clearly led to it being a murder, but I think what really messed things up was the guy who 3 times over the course of a few months called the cops and said he found the remains or knew where they were, but it never turned out to be true until the third time.

It feels like a murder mystery. Like where every one could have been the murderer. Almost like they all had a hand in it too.

Yeah. At first it seemed like the grandparents were innocent and just wanted to know what happened, but after all of the lying and BS, it feels like they might have somehow had a hand in it.

I think what happened is Casey killed her daughter, the grandparents found out soon after, and then helped her cover things up. And a big thing was Casey's father trying to commit suicide. To me it seems like he was involved in some way and felt guilty, so he tried to end his life.

Just think how many more innocent people would be locked up and wrongly accused if we allowed "hear-say" and "fantasy" evidence to determine a guilty verdict. With so many dishonest and corrupt people in our country, it would never work.
Going for the death penalty (with circumstantial evidence) didn't help their cause either.

I think if she did kill her she did because the grandparents were trying to get custody. It is a sad story and this and the son that watched his dad fall in the game. Have just been so heart wrenching for me. So sad. but to be honest the little girl is probably better off then being raised by this strange family.
