Casey Anthony seemed to be all smiles today at sentencing. That family is just strange. They react the exact opposite normal people would in those situations.

Here's an interview Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch did on 8/16/10.

I think I would be all smiles as well. No offense to my deceased child, but if I wasn't her murderer, I would no longer be in constant grief mode about that, even during the trial and sentencing period. Knowing that I am about to walk through life freely once again (barring some exceptions with regard to the public eye, of course) as opposed to rotting in prison for seven years and being dosed with lethal injection would make me smile big and proud, whether I did it or not.

That doesn't mean this family isn't weird though, but I can understand and explain the smiles.

I still can't get over not reporting your child missing for 31 days... Going on with life as if nothing bad had ever happened -- partying, getting tattoos and who knows what else.

That continues to blow my mind.

But she's completely innocent, a jury said so.

Actually, in legal terms, the jury was simply not convinced enough that they were certain she was guilty (just to spin it properly ).

Yeah, one of the juror's (Juror #3 if I recall) said on Dateline/20-20/48 Hours that not-guilty does not mean innocent. From what I heard, they all though she did it, but had enough "reasonable dount" to not convict her based on the laws that they were to follow.

Yeah, this part blows my mind as well. Regardless of the story that explaions the Caley's death, it doesn't make sense.

It's all going to come back to haunt her though, at least financially.

Based on the defenses story of Caley drowning and the father knowing about it and then scolding Casey for it, that means that she knew the whole time that her daughter was dead and still allowed the police run their investigation and the local and state governments as well as private companies to run search party after search party looking for a little girl that apperantly the mother already knew had drown...at least that is the story told in her defense.

Because of this all of these companies (private and public) are going to sue to recover money for the time and resources wasted searching for a girl who was reported missing, but was known to be already dead...per the mother.

Unfortunately thats how our legal system works. Your personal judgment doesn't count. You have to be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Although both methods have their flaws, I'd honestly stick to how its done now. Just think how many more innocent people would be locked up and wrongly accused if we allowed "hear-say" and "fantasy" evidence to determine a guilty verdict. With so many dishonest and corrupt people in our country, it would never work.

So I was just watching the news and they were showing the jurors being questioned before the case and one of them said he did could not and would not convict anyone of the death penalty.

The more and more I hear about this jury and see them come out for interviews, the more and more it becomes clear why Casey is free. The jurors just really didn't understand what they were doing.

How does that not automatically disqualify you as a potential juror in a death penalty case?
