Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases
There was once a time when people paid money for pet rocks but the name of a dance is somehow a signal that things are dumbing down. Interesting.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

another way to settle the thread would be to say anything young people do is annoying to older people

Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases
I hate hate hate when people start/preface a statement or opinion with "Let's be clear (here)". I hate it with the burning passion of a thousand suns.
First of all, it's f'n condescending. Second of all, it's redundant (when is anyone's goal to NOT communicate clearly?). Thirdly, it's rarely followed by a clear statement (or statements).
It's amazing how many people - especially the idiot talking heads on every news program (who generally fancy themselves 'smart' people...) - use this phrase habitually.Comment

Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases
The latest sports buzz term that bugs me is "risk averse". I mean, the term itself doesn't bother me, it's of course applied to current NFL offenses and makes sense. But good lord does ever single analyst and blogger have to use the exact same terminology?
It's not on the level of "narrative" or "millennials" that irked me earlier in the thread, but I really hope this term doesn't explode too. I also feel older and grumpier every day for getting annoyed at this stuffWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases
The main stream media does this a lot. Someone comes up with a buzz word and they run with it quickly. This is one of the downfalls of our instant communication society. I remember not that long ago when "gravitas" was thrown into every political story. Nauseating.Comment

Serious question, what would you prefer they call it? I've never heard it used as a scare tactic, it's just the part of the internet that's, essentially, hidden. Seems accurate.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
