Actually spatter is the Christmas version of splatter. Both carry generally the same meaning, and refer to the messy nature of kitchens during the holidays. "Spatter" is generally only used from Thanksgiving to December 25th in the United States. The only difference is that spatter has Noel.

Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases
That is such a common one lol. My wife's best friend hates that word too, so we go out of our way to use it around her to describe just about anything. I do it mostly in defense because they know how to torture me much worse.Comment

Please, there's nothing good about having to leave a comfy bed & go out into the dog eat dog.
I always just say "Morning". I get up early every day but I'm by no definition a morning person.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases
I have to agree. As you can tell by my many of my posts, i am very much a late-night person. I do get up early as well. There is nothing good about the morning, unless referring to 12am to 3am.Comment

Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases
This is a bit of niche one, but when traveling for work, I hate when people say 'have fun' or something otherwise implying that it's going to be a vacation. As anyone traveling for work knows, no matter what the destination is, it's not a friggin' vacation. Farthest possible thing from it, actually. If I could send someone else to do all my travel for me, I gladly would.Comment

It's up there with "drive safe" .... no, I was going to swerve around the road and have my eyes closed. Although, I'll admit it.... I say it.

Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases
It really bothers me when people say [XYZ]-'gate' when talking about scandals. Watergate was the hotel, there was not a scandal about water.
Similarly it bothers me when people say "inception" any time there is mention of a [something] within a [same something]. The concept of Inception was not just a dream within a dream, it was planting an idea in a person's subconsciousness through a dream. But I guess that's what Christopher Nolan gets for writing confusing sci-fi movies that only he understands.Last edited by CBoller1331; 06-29-2018, 08:31 PM.Chicago Cubs

And I'm not sure what you mean by being mentioned with something within the same something but it seems to be being used correctly in your general example.Last edited by kehlis; 06-30-2018, 10:29 AM.Comment
