Re: Most annoying words, terms, phrases

People who say things like hashtag(and even make a hashtag hand gesture when saying it), wtf, lol, omg (the letters themselves, not what those acronyms actually mean).

And those who shorten words that don't need to be shortened. Calling a pizza a 'za is one example.

Also, people swearing around kids. Don't mean in public on the street because that's different. I mean people in their own yards swearing (not angry or yelling, just using words in regular conversations). You got kids living all around you, in a yard adjacent to you, but you and your friends will start dropping f bombs in your conversations that can be heard multiple houses down the block. Yes, somebody think of the children.

What kind of signs are they throwing up Canada?

Only thing I can think of is doing the "peace" sign with one perpendicular over the other.

I honestly would’ve never looked at that as a hashtag.

I legit can't imagine someone doing that in real life.

Man I am so guilty of the swearing thing. My wife yells at me for it all the time, but that's just who I am. I'm pretty good when I'm out in public or something like that, but at home...well it's not so good. Even around our 10 year old son I tend to be pretty bad, although I'm getting better all the time.

I used to have a co-worker that would do that with names. The one that annoyed me most was my co-worker Rebecca...that she called "Rebecs." I once asked if she was really so lazy that she couldn't be bothered with an extra letter.

That's what she said. Granted I say it all the time when presented with the opportunity. I kind of annoy my self.

That's hilarious, I use that one at any opportunity as well. The wife and I are big fans of The Office.

                          On the hashtag thing.

Where I work you have to hit the # then the extension to call an extension. We have a guy that when he pages someone he will say "John hashtag 222"

this one doesn't have anything to do with colloquialisms, but I've always been bothered by "spatter" instead of "splatter", I don't understand the need for two different words, and why make them 1 letter different?
