Yeah I think it's like if you get in a car accident, the chances of dying aren't as great as they are if you're in a plane crash. The whole falling from the sky at 500 MPH kind of messes up things...NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: Off Topic 2012
I've been deathy afraid of flying since the TWA 800 accident and the fear was increased a million fold after 9/11. I've flown once from Philly to Tampa in 2006, but I'm not going to tempt fate and make a habit of it...flying is such a huge risk that to me it's not even worth it.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
But flying really isn't a risk. Last year, there were no commercial flight crashes in the US. There are over 6.4 million car crashes a year, and over 40,000 people die.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: Off Topic 2012
Flying in a plane is exponentially safer than driving.
Being scared of flying is irrational if its about safety.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
Right. I get heights and all that, but if it's because you think you're gonna die or crash, that's just foolish. Now small single engine planes I totally get. You often have inexperienced pilots and poorly maintained planes, but large commercial flights are one of the safest ways of traveling out there.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: Off Topic 2012
Obviously there are going to be more car accidents if more people are driving and driving more often than flying.

Yeah I dont understand how some think it's unsafe. You're more likely to get eaten by a shark then crash in a plane.

Re: Off Topic 2012
I'd much rather take a bullet train. Hopefully they'll be more common here in the near future. You won't see any of those crash and get stuck in the Andes.
Irrational fear? Maybe, but I don't want to end up on all major news networks for the wrong reasons.Last edited by BunnyHardaway; 05-22-2012, 05:06 PM.Comment

I think it's more of people feel like they can control driving and they can't when flying, not to mention the whole really high in the sky thing.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Off Topic 2012
Yeah and if every car crash got the amount of coverage that a car accident got, no one would ever drive.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
I'd much rather deal with being surrounded by idiots on a plane and a couple experienced pilots than being surrounded by a bunch of idiots behind wheel of a car who are far more likely to put my life in danger with their antics. Idiots on a plane are more of a nuisance than a danger.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Crime wave has hit upstate New York. People are stealing truck tailgates. I haven't heard of people doing that since the 80s and early 90s.Comment
