Going to the gym between 12:00am and 4:00am. Everything is so peaceful and quiet, barely anyone around, machines are open. Wish I could always go around that window.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
When I lived in a building w/ a gym, that's usually what I would do. It's like your own personal gym at that point. And no matter how often you go during that time, you always sort of feel like you're 'getting away with something' (for lack of a better description), in that you somehow found a loophole in the universe that allows you use of the entire gym to yourself. Even though it's just that normal people don't work out in the middle of the night.Comment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
My boxing day sale purchase of a new tv is arriving this week when the delayed date claimed it wouldn't arrive until after my holidays are up.
Almost right after that, I found out the day I have to go back to work is turning into just a half day/wfh type of day.
And then after that, I saw someone on my street moving and getting rid of those driveway basketball systems with wheels, I checked it out and it's in good condition and they're really just getting rid of it because they have no space to put it on a truck, so...free basketball net.
Not a bad morning today which randomly started with me seeing a Santa hat under the car wheel (blew away from someone's lawn decoration) which made it look like my car ran over Santa. Unless....this is how the new Santa Clause begins.Comment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
Don't you know how the movies work? You don't believe in Santa, so you don't get any presents. But when your kid (or just any random kid you know) gets a present out of nowhere, you don't question it.Comment

I've posted about this before, but movies treat the Santa thing interestingly. Parents are knowingly aware that Santa doesn't exist, but then he shows up later or gives presents and they are all befuddled... but then who was leaving presents before that? Was Santa not delivering to nonbelievers or something?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

He doesn't deliver to people who don't believe, but then some end up believing because they got a gift. But then the parents know the "secret", but then who was leaving the presents?!
I wonder if there are any Christmas movies where everyone knows Santa is real, and the movie doesn't feature Santa or question his existence, but everyone just goes about their life and Christmas like normal, with them getting presents Christmas from Santa on Christmas morning.
Closest I can think is the Grinch, since Santa's existence is never questioned, and I believe everyone did get presents from Santa, which were part of the gifts that he stole. And even then, the movie is based on the cartoon special, so it's not a standalone movie in that sense.Last edited by Majingir; 12-28-2022, 09:29 PM.Comment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
So I just bought MW2, and although I tend to stay off the mic I do leave others unmuted.
It pleases me to no end when I kill somebody and I get a second of their reaction on mic as they yell out obscenities over a silly video game. The twelve-year-old in them always seems to come out, and I'm better off because of it.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
Being able to sit on the back deck, in Southern Indiana, in January, in shorts and a t-shirt.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
Vacation planning for the summer.
Everything was already booked last month, but slowly I'm looking at things to do, what I might need to pack (especially during the spring when you might get better deals/have certain things more available now before people start thinking about summer).
Basically end of July until end of August is either Vacation or a lighter schedule/"staycation".Comment
