Summary of the situation. 2 boys, 10 and 11. One dated this girl. Girl made fun of him and his friends. Therefore he planned on stabbing her to death with a 3 1/4 inch knife, they also stole a semi automatic gun. The other boy was going to hide and ambush the 1st responders with the gun. They also planned on killing 6 other students by luring them away from the school 1 by 1.

I can't understand the mindset of a 21 yr old man let another man tell him to get butt naked outside in public and let this man whoop him with a belt over a $20 debt. That wouldn't be happening. You would have to kill me before I let that BS happen.

Ok, this line in that story just... baffles me:

But, said the report, "the family did not consider that Coke was harmful due to the fact of it having no warning signs."

Let's see... they knew she would get headaches, the shakes, withdrawal symptoms because of this addiction. But, they did not know it was bad for her?

I don't mean to sound callous - it's obviously a shame that someone died. But man - wouldn't common sense say that 2.6 gallons a day of, well, almost anything is bad for you? Especially when her "rotted teeth had to be removed" and her "liver was swollen"?

This world needs a big, giant injection of common sense in the worst way. Man...

*Edit: Please don't interpret this as me blaming the family for her death because they didn't stop her addiction. I understand that addictions are powerful things. It's just the wording of that quote that gets me.

The first woman mayor of San Diego has acknowledged in court she misappropriated more than $2 million from her late husband's foundation to fund a casino gambling habit with which she allegedly won and lost $1 billion over nine years.
Her attorney said a brain tumor affected Maureen O'Connor's judgment in playing video poker. She's now broke and suffering cognitive impairment following brain surgery and a stroke in 2011, prosecutors said.
O'Connor, mayor of San Diego from 1986 to 1992, reported to the IRS more than $1 billion in casino winnings but also reported losses bigger than those winnings, resulting in a net loss from 2000 to 2009, prosecutors said in court papers.
Those net losses amounted to $13 million, her attorney said.
O'Connor was married to Robert O. Peterson, founder of the Jack in the Box restaurant chain, from 1977 until his death in 1994, but court documents don't disclose the size of the couple's fortune that apparently funded O'Connor's gambling habit.

Man, this is why I tell people all the time be careful with gambling. It can turn into an addiction.

Crying babies are one of the most annoying things ever. If my children cry in public like at a restaurant, I want to leave with the quickness because I don't want to ruin someone else's time. But if someone slapped my child, I don't know if I would have been able to hold back.

And that's crazy about the kids trying to ambush the others.

It kind of reminds me of this....not as young as those kids...but still disturbing.
This happened literally down the block from my firehouse and remember it very well.(this happened in 2002)
