A five year-old boy in England recently ran up a $2,500 bill in less than ten minutes in a free game he downloaded off of iTunes. Danny Kitchen had been pestering his parents all day to give him the password to the iTunes account so he could download the free game, Zombies vs Ninja. Ten minutes later, unbeknownst to Mom and Dad Kitchen, they would owe iTunes $2590! Danny, everyone knows not to spend any money on those in app purchasesComment

A student's outgoing voice mail message quoting the theme to "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" led to a school lockdown in Ambridge, Pa.
The Times Online in Beaver, Pa., explains what happened. A receptionist from a doctor's office called to remind student Travis Clawson about an upcoming appointment. Clawson didn't pick up, so the call went to voice mail.
The receptionist heard what sounded like a threat about "shooting" and "school" on Clawson's outgoing message. Apparently, the message was intended to quote a lyric from the Will Smith sitcom's theme song that goes, "And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school." It's unclear if the receptionist misheard Clawson's message or if the student altered the lyrics.
The receptionist notified police, who notified school officials, who instituted a lockdown on every school in the county. After 20 frantic minutes, authorities located Clawson in the high school's guidance counselor's office.
Police took him into custody and interviewed him. It was then that Clawson explained his message was just a riff on the popular '90s sitcom about a young Philadelphia man who goes to live with his "auntie and uncle in Bel Air." According to Times Online, District Attorney Anthony Berosh said that after listening to the message closely it was determined that it did follow the Quincy Jones-penned song. Clawson was released and no charges were filed.
No word on whether he said "Smell ya later" upon being cleared.Comment

BANGOR, Maine — Police reportedly have taken a human fetus into evidence after a woman walked through Pickering Square carrying it in a bag Friday
BANGOR, Maine — Police reportedly have taken a human fetus into evidence after a woman walked through Pickering Square carrying it in a bag Friday afternoon. There have been no arrests and no one was taken into custody, Sgt. Bob Bishop said Friday night.
Investigators are releasing few details aside from what Lt. Tim Reid, who heads the department’s Criminal Investigation Division, revealed in a brief written statement Friday evening.
At 2:06 p.m., police received reports of a woman walking through Pickering Square while carrying a bag with a fetus in it. Investigators reportedly retrieved a fetus, but details of why it was being carried were withheld.
Investigators also went to High Street, which was closed briefly, around the same time as part of the investigation according to Sgt. Garry Higgins.
Bishop said the fetus would be taken to the medical examiner’s office on Monday.Comment

Something straight out of a movie man. It is so bizarre some people are calling it a hoax. The man is just trying to sleep and suddenly a sinkhole develops directly under his bedroom. What blows my mind is how the hole is supposedly 30 foot wide and there is absolutely no sign of damage on the outside of the house. I saw some videos of it on youtube and the bedrooms in that house are maybe 10 feet wide at best. Very sad and surreal story though.
EDIT: Just saw that this was posted on the last page...Last edited by z Revis; 03-04-2013, 01:21 AM.Indianapolis Colts

After Selling A Startup For $70 Million At Age 25, Founder Blows Through Fortune And Heads To PrisonThings looked a lot brighter for Jennifer Sultan before she became addicted to painkillers.
Thirteen years ago, things looked brighter for Jennifer Sultan.
Then, Sultan was a recent New York University graduate who sold a tech startup, Live Online, for $70 million. That summer she rented a summer house in the Hamptons and purchased a penthouse in Manhattan's Union Square.
Unfortunately, gaining so much wealth at the young age of 25 seemed to be a curse. After several failed attempts at a few more tech ventures, Sultan began to dabble in holistic health and eventually, became addicted to pain killers. Last Friday, Sultan, now 38, pled guilty to selling painkillers and for trying to sell a firearm, The New York Times reports. She'll be spending four years in prison, which isn't bad considering her sentence was initially five times that.
From NYT:
Early last year, a city narcotics investigator discovered an advertisement Ms. Sultan had placed on Craigslist offering prescription painkillers for sale. She and Mr. Cohen were still living in the penthouse loft near Union Square that they bought after the sale of Live Online.
Five times from February through June, she sold pills to an undercover officer, according to her indictment. One sale took place at the Starbucks on Union Square. In another, she sold 183 oxycodone tablets to the officer for $4,400 at a Starbucks in the Flatiron district near the school where she was studying acupuncture.
Sultan isn't the only entrepreneur guilty of blowing a fortune. Andrew Fashion made $2.5 million before age 21 and blew it all by 22 on porn and gambling.

When millions of viewers tune into the hit drama "Mad Men" each week, one of the first faces they see in the show's iconic, award-winning title sequence is of a top fashion model of the 1950s and 1960s - only for years, she had didn't know it was her image.
Gita Hall, 79, says she had no idea she was part of the iconic title sequence for one of TV's most popular and lauded shows, which has aired on AMC since 2007.
"I wished they had had the courtesy to get in touch with me," she told ABC News.
The former model has just filed a law suit with the Los Angeles Superior Court against Lionsgate Entertainment, which distributes the show, claiming her image was ripped off.
"I was surprised because nobody had checked with me about it- they must have thought I was dead," she said.
Hall's attorney Kevin Leichter says that the suit has merit because the company would feel the same way about their product. "If two minutes of 'Mad Men' had been taken for commercial purposes, Lionsgate would be throwing thermonuclear bombs," he said.Comment

Whew, glad my momma didn't think like this or I wouldn't be alive today.
An Indonesian woman drowned her nine-year-old son in the bath, claiming she was worried that his “small penis” would affect his prospects for the future, a police spokesman said Thursday.
