Is it possible for something to be too Florida? A woman with a remarkably incriminating name was arrested last month for firing a missile into a vehicle that was occupied at the time. Florida scale. Officially. Broken.

Crystal Metheney (yeah, believe it), 36, was booked by the Polk County Sheriff's Department on Cinco de Mayo for shooting the missile into the car. This is a violation of Florida statute 790.19, which prohibits certain behavior like: "Shooting into or throwing deadly missiles into dwellings, public or private buildings, occupied or not occupied; vessels, aircraft, buses, railroad cars, streetcars, or other vehicles."

In other words, it expects people to exercise common sense. What Metheney did was horrible, but can we revisit the Lake Wales, Fla. native's name for a second? You could argue that it's actually the bigger crime.

Nothing more to say other than this is Florida simply being Florida.

Can we just relocate South Beach and rid ourselves with the rest of Florida already. And throw in Connecticut while we are at it.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – An Arizona man arrested for unlawfully discharging a firearm told authorities that he was trying to shoot the moon.
Prescott Valley police say 39-year-old Cameron Read also admitted to smoking marijuana before the incident last Friday night.

Police responded to the home after a woman reported that her boyfriend had fired several shots from a handgun and still was armed.


The woman and her teenage son told police that Read was talking about seeing Halley's Comet and fired a round out of the window.
They heard several more shots before fleeing.
Police say Read has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail on suspicion of felony counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and endangerment plus misdemeanor criminal damage.
He doesn't have an attorney yet.

^ This article just got me thinking: any time some randy fires missiles into the air, those mothers come down! I'm relieved people aren't showered by sporadic bullets coming from out of nowhere more often.

On a semi-related note, perhaps he just got through playing some GTA: San Andreas.

Myth busters did a show on this. Basically if you fire it straight up, it won't kill you, but most bullets aren't fired straight up. They are fired at an angle less than 90 degrees. I don't think they ever gave an angle that was lethal because of league reasons.
