Double standards of peace

I believe in double standards, and it just shouldn't be applied the same based on gender sometimes.

Take for instance this gym teacher who was just arrested for raping a 16 year old on numerous occasions. Although that may be the legal charge, what it is called and what probably happened are probably two far different things.

Below is a comment from an online article on the story:

The PC crowd just loves to use loaded words when it suits them. 'Rape', 'Abuse'. Usually, the truth is that the juvenile was seduced. No need to hold a gun or any other form of intimidation or bribe to a boy's head. Offer sex and you've got him. And that's the way it is with some girls, too, I think. Although I wouldn't know from direct experience. Don't get me wrong.

I don't think there should be any draconian measures taken in cases where no violence, imprisonment, drugs, intimidation, or bribes were used, and no pregnancy or STDs resulted. In other words, if it's fully consensual sex with no injury involved. Although it shouldn't go unpunished. And the adult definitely needs therapy.

I really see nothing wrong with a double standard when it comes to sexual seduction. It's far more likely that a girl would have lasting negative effects than a boy, and those cases should be dealt with more severely.

Whether or not the negative effects are more damaging to females than to males its still pretty much a fact that its fairly easy to "seduce" a teenage boy who is over-flowing with hormones. Not to mention the fact that with the gym teacher and the two female teachers in Louisiana, whether or not the sex was "consensual," they're still in a role of influence and power over these children. To me that is the bigger issue and why the double standard blurs the lines based on the gender of the victim.

Reading the article just makes it sound worse.

In a gruesome scene seemingly straight out of a Halloween horror movie, a man beheaded his mother Tuesday night, dragged her body out of her Long Island, New York, apartment, and kicked her severed head down the street before jumping to his death in front of a moving train.

Derek Ward, 35, killed his mother Patricia, a 66-year-old professor, and then committed suicide, according to the Associated Press. He had a history of psychiatric problems.

"I looked through my window and saw the body down there," neighbor Nick Gordon told the New York Post. "I saw the lady laying right there in front, and her head was across the street … I thought, 'Holy s---!' "

According to the Post, many neighbors initially believed the body they saw in the street was part of a Halloween prank – until they touched it.

"I saw a head on the ground. And then I saw a body without a head," Jack Imperial, 41, who lives in Queens, tells PEOPLE. "It looked like it was a Halloween prank. I figured it was a hoax. I just hoped it was a hoax. It looked real."

NBC New York reported Wednesday that the deaths were being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Ward's body was struck by a moving Long Island Rail Road train roughly 1,000 feet from his mother's Farmingdale, New York, home, according to the AP.

"There was blood all over the floor," Gordon told the Post of the tragic scene. "You can see smears going down the stairs … as if somebody were pulling a body."

This Domino's is about 3 miles down the road from my apt. I even took a pic of one of their signs once and posted it in the random meme/funny stuff thread.

I have to admit though I laughed when he said "my supervisors name is go **** yourself"

I can tell you why he's rude... he works at a fast food chain.

I did like the burn the lady put on him when he called her a "R*****" and she goes... who's the 40 year old R***** that has pizza sauce on his shirt working in a pizza store?

Also when she complained about the "white sauce" I thought she was going to say something disgusting. Probably would never order there even if I was starving.

A gaming project that draws real blood when you take virtual damage takes a blow after Kickstarter suspends the campaign's funding.


The blood-bank experience hasn't changed much in recent years. It involves sitting in a relatively comfy chair, getting hooked up to a blo0d-drawing machine and munching on cookies and drinking juice so you don't pass out. If that sounds way too relaxed for you, you might be interested in Blood Sport, a system that turns the act of donating blood into a competitive gaming situation. When your character in the game takes damage, the system draws blood to go into the donation bag. Rinse and repeat until you've reached your recommended donation quantity.


Though the project has been active since November 18, Kickstarter just Monday suspended the campaign's funding. CNET reached out to Blood Sport to inquire as to why the project was suspended and did not immediately receive a response. Kickstarter told CNET its policy is to not comment on project suspensions.


The Blood Sport concept works thanks to a combination of a hacked Nintendo Rumble Pak gaming controller and an Arduino brain. Blood Sport takes the signal that's used to shake the controller when you get hit and re-routes it to tell the blood-collection machine when it's time to take a drink. The system could conceivably work with any gaming system that has a rumbling-style controller. Wii Blood Bowling, anyone?

The technology works, but the bigger issue for Blood Sport is the funding. The Kickstarter campaign was aiming for a lofty goal of about $222,000. With 39 days left to go, it had only raised about $3,000. The pledge levels ranged from $9 (about £6, AU$11) for the chance to try Blood Sport on an intended multi-city tour, all the way up to $4,440 (about £2,830, AU$5,150) to visit the Blood Sport team's apartment to see the prototype in action and receive the code and hardware information needed to make your own.
