Re: News that make you say WTF?
Unlike what ND is saying.....I'm fairly certain that she did indeed break at least one law prior to the officers involvement or at least his physical involvement.
Once you are asked to leave a public building owned by a govt. agency and you do not comply you are trespassing. Not criminal trespass, but likely trespass nonetheless. If it wasn't so when the teacher asked her to....it likely was when the officer did.
She also did strike the officer(intentional or not...it was during his effort to subdue her which also likely makes it a criminal offense....but he doesn't seem to want to play that card and I don't blame him...I think he realizes he went overboard) and it can easily be made the case that the desk flipped in the act of her resisting his effort to remove her.
I'm not trying to be "the bad guy" here....just leaving emotions out of it.
It doesn't sound like this guy is as bad as is being made out here on O.S. You would think that more students would be coming forth and saying so if he was a real out of hand problem.
Counseling?.....Better training?....Yeah....
Firing....without even a hearing?.....Job back(or at least a payout)

I doubt that would make any difference at any hearing.

I believe he was once sued as Well. I didnt get the story but saw an article about that
At this point making the situation about the student is off the wall.
Plenty of kids dont move or listen on first ask. Thats not a criminal offense. Schools have better methods of dealing with kids than going roughshod period.
The only bad guy here got fired because he lost his marbles against a teenage girlComment

Re: News that make you say WTF?
"I recognized him on the spot," 36-year-old Army veteran Carlos Martin tells the New York Daily News. "I remember how big he was." Martin was the victim of a previous violent encounter with Fields in 2005, one as equally unprovoked as that of the young student at Spring Valley High. Martin, who had just moved to Columbia after an Army-related stay in Germany, reportedly pulled into the parking lot of his apartment complex with his music playing loudly after a day of work at nearby Moncrief Army Community Hospital. Fields was already on the scene after receiving an apparent noise complaint:
Martin said the beefy officer "snapped" after he called him "dude," and slammed him on the ground. He began pepper-spraying the helpless veteran, but Martin said he was trained in the military to resist the chemicals. An entire canister of the stuff failed to disable Martin.
"He became even more violent because I didn't react like most people would."
Martin’s wife at the time, Tashiana Rogers, witnessed the encounter and quickly attempted to take photos of the police-perpetrated violence with her cellphone. Fields then told his partner to "get her black ***," according to court documents, before obtaining the phone and deleting most of the photos. When Martin told Fields the rough arrest would definitely lead to a lawsuit, the officer responded "I’m glad Johnnie Cochran is dead."Comment

I know this is posted in the CFB Off-Topic thread, but I think this is fitting here as well: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...icle-1.2420009
The student started at Notre Dame on an academic scholarship in the fall of 2014, according to his attorney.
The alleged five-month relationship did not start until he sought tutoring lessons during this year's spring semester, according to the lawsuit.
Those lessons quickly escalated to out-of-state sexual liaisons between her daughter, who was also at the school, and the student.
"She was encouraging it," said the man's other lawyer, Michael Misch. "The mom sought him out and promoted the relationship by providing hotel rooms and condoms."
The academic coach would later interrogate him about the "nature, frequency, and quality of the sexual activities" they had, the lawsuit claims, badgering him with "racially-charged comments about his sexual prowess and genitalia," the suit alleges.Comment

Re: News that make you say WTF?
So he stole from the feds and PD all those years. Then when they were about to catch him, he set up his suicide in a way that it looked like protesters or gang bangers killed him. TSK TSK TSK.
The death of Fox Lake, Illinois, police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz was “a carefully planned suicide,” Lake County Major Crimes Task Force commander George Filenko said Wednesday. “This staged suicide was the end result of extensive criminal acts that Gliniewicz had been committing.”
Filenko said that Fox Lake, Illinois, police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz “committed the ultimate betrayal” with his actions over the past several years, including allegedly staging his own death to look like a homicide. “He behaved for years in a manner completely contrary to the image he portrayed,” Filenko said.
Gliniewicz was fatally struck by two bullets, Lake County Coroner Thomas Rudd said. Rudd also called Gliniewicz’s death a “carefully staged suicide.”
Investigators “didn’t see anything to indicate there was a struggle physically” in Gliniewicz’s death, Filenko said.(CNN) — [Breaking news update] The death of Fox Lake, Illinois, police Lt. Re: News that make you say WTF?
No details?
I was wondering if it was financial troubles to help family.
Sounds like it's just a huge mess that is embarrassing for all sides.

Re: News that make you say WTF?
This is the county I live in. When I first heard it, I was actually scared with the manhunt going on. Then I heard this on the news this morning and I just SMDH.
As for the money,
Filenko said an investigation revealed Gliniewicz had stolen thousands of dollars from the police department's youth Explorers post over seven years, which he spent on mortgage payments, travel, handing out personal loans, a gym membership and adult websites.Comment

Re: News that make you say WTF?
That is crazy considering how much money he was already making a year. With his salary for being on the force for decades, he could have easily paid all of that and had plenty of money to spare.Comment
