Crisis averted... for now.
Christmas Day San Francisco Terror Plot Thwarted By FBI
The FBI arrested the man at his home in Modesto. He had already written a note claiming responsibility for the planned ISIS attack.
According to the criminal complaint posted online by the New York Times, Jameson was devoted to ISIS and inspired by a terrorist attack in New York that killed eight people on Oct. 31. In that case, a terrorist drove a vehicle into a crowd of people. In addition, he was inspired by the Dec. 2, 2015 shooting attack in San Bernardino that killed 14 and injured another 22.
A former sharpshooter in the US Marines, Jameson told the FBI agent that he planned an attack that combined the two threats - a vehicle and shooting. He did not have an escape plan because he planned to die in the attack.
Jameson also discussed the possibility of using pipe bombs loaded with nails.
The documents state that Jameson wanted to carry out his attack the week of Dec. 18 - 25, with Christmas Day being the perfect choice. He was angry that President Trump planned to move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
