Re: Uncommon Opinions
I wonder if you'd say this if your Wild were in the Cup Finals. I've gone to a bunch of playoff and Finals games and there's nothing like it. For example, last year I was at game 7 of Detroit-Chicago and game 1 Boston-Chicago and it was awesome. I also went to game 5 Nashville-Chicago and all 3 SC Finals home games in 2010. Those memories are forever burned in my brain. Playoff hockey live is quite the experience. It's by far my favorite sport to watch live.I would almost always rather watch a sporting event from the comfort of my (or a friend's) home than actually attending the sporting event.
When I was in college I went to all the Minnesota hockey and football games because it was convenient: cheap tickets, walking distance to the stadium/arena, etc.
But now, not having to buy a ticket and sitting on the couch drinking some beers and BSing with friends is 100x more appealing to me than going to the sporting event live.
If I got free tickets to something I would definitely go, but I'm not going to go out of my way to go to a game (except for a baseball game or two a year, now that the Twins play outdoors)"You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Ehh, it depends what aspect of coaching you're talking about.
If it's player development, I'd give the edge to Pop. And they both have been successful while having to coach some of the greatest players to ever play the game(Jordan, Duncan, O'Neal, Kobe). It'd be a tough case to say Pop was a better coach than Phil and that's even without taking rings into consideration.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
What we need to be doing is comparing Pop to LeBron, then the winner of that to Kobe, then the winner of that to MJ. Then all 4 at once using parameters that aren't even fair, nor related.Boston Red Sox

Re: Uncommon Opinions
My uncommon opinion: the **** the NBA forum gets is way overblown. The NFL AND MLB forums aren't as innocent as you guys say they are. Most of the people that whine about the NBA forum don't even like the sport. Well, naturally, you're not going to enjoy discussion about the sport.Last edited by dsallupinyaarea; 03-31-2014, 10:54 PM.NFL - Vikings

I enjoy the sport, but the NBA forum can get a tad ridiculous... a bit more ridiculous than the others in general, but you are right, it's not like the other sport specific forums are completely innocent. My uncommon opinion: the **** the NBA forum gets is way overblown. The NBA was the first one to succumb to idiocy, but the NFL forum is just as bad these days.
As a matter of fact, 95% of the game/sports forums are terrible. I visit them maybe once every three months if it's not a thread I have subscribed (like specific Team Threads.)badComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
That's true... I don't spend a ton of time in the sport specific forums, but of the ones I have, the MLB one is pretty darn good comparatively. The MLB one isn't too bad, but the NFL and NBA are terrible.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I honestly think the MLB one is the worst. Not because of idiocy, but the opposite - know it alls all over the place. It's hard to read some of the **** in the there. The MLB one isn't too bad, but the NFL and NBA are terrible.

Might just be me, though. Just seems like you can't have an opinion in there unless you bring 47 different statistics to back up.Last edited by Beantown; 03-31-2014, 11:14 PM.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
On the plus side, our MLB posters aren't snobs about the stats, which bothers me elsewhere. Our guys seem pretty helpful in providing links and info about the numbers they bring up. I've learned a <del> lot</del> little bit thanks to these fine gentlemenI honestly think the MLB one is the worst. Not because of idiocy, but the opposite - know it alls all over the place.
