      I like Lil Wayne

I would rather work out and then write a poem than do most things on this planet.

I look forward to the scouting combine.

I don't care how much money the universities are making, STUDENT-athletes should have to stay in school for four years.
I guess this is not what I'm understanding. Since when was it okay to force another human being to do something? As it is now, both sides have a give and take. Sometimes schools whiff on big name players and sometimes they leave early, while on the other hand if they land said big name player and perform well, they stand the chance to add millions of dollars to their coffers.

What you're suggesting is giving one entity 100% control. That's not a good thing for any system that's not a business IMO. And if College Sports is a business, then it needs to go ahead and set up a wage scale for it's players.

And in any case, this line of thinking should be expanded to students in general, not just student athletes.

I agree with bigbob. Student-athletes should have to stay in school for 4 years, for their own good. You can't play professional sports forever and if you spend yourself out of money, etc, you should have a degree to fall back on.

I don't see how they should do anything, it's up to the student athlete to make those decisions that are best for them.

Why? No one has this expectation for regular students but athletes have these ridiculous standards to live up to in the minds of some people. Now, if you do have this expectation for all students, then I still don't agree but at least you're consistent.

If they really care about education, then they can go back and get a degree at anytime. The window to play professional sports is much smaller.

Its like people think these guys cant do anything when they leave the game. They can always get their degree. They arent dead in the water once they hang up the cleats.

And Bob, what makes you say they should have to stay for 4 years? What is your reasoning?

Pretty sure he stated it was because they're going for free on scholarship so they should have to stay for the full term.

From this view its not even about whats best for these athletes. Its a selfish and/or bitter view to take as somebody removed from their situation. It doesnt take into account how that kid's life changes by the year as well as virtually stripping basic human rights.

The NBA should get rid of the one year rule. All of these guys that are one-and-done in college basketball have no reason to go to college other than the stupid rule. It's kind of ruined college basketball for me. Way too much turnover in the sport.

We'll never see anything similar to the Fab 5 again, and rivalries amongst elite players is all but gone in the sport.

The One and Done rule actually made the situation worse IMO.
