Where do you sit with the likes of Logan and Joker? I wouldn’t call Joker a comic book movie by any stretch whatsoever, and I don’t really think Logan belongs in the CBM genre either.

I like to think of The Dark Knight as some pseudorealistic crime drama, but that is still a comic book movie, more on the bubble though.

There are definitely exceptions, and some of those more 'fringe' type of movies that aren't married to the source material can be good. As you point out, some of the lines get blurry as to what is/isn't a "comic book" movie. I mean, other than being the Joker, that movie basically was "Taxi Driver" with a more recognizable lead character.

Some are definitely better than others, but I am generally in agreement w/ Scorsese when it comes to classifying most of the Marvel/DC universe comics as more 'thrill ride' than 'cinema'. But I wouldn't go as far as Scorsese goes because I don't think it's right to insult a huge swath of movies/fans just because I don't happen to be interested in them.

I enjoyed them for a while, but the over-saturation led me to tuning the product out as a whole.

Adding onto the uncommon scifi talk.

I'm prefacing this by stating that I'm not a lifelong Star Wars fan, a hardcore fan, or someone who saw all the movies as a kid (I did see all movies later on though), but I am a fan regardless.

          My Star Wars movie rankings

          Rise of Skywalker
          Revenge of the Sith
          Return of the Jedi
          Force Awakens
          A New Hope
          Empire Strikes Back
          Last Jedi
          Attack of the Clones
          Phantom Menace

              Re: Uncommon Opinions

This is an honestly held opinion, not just for the sake of the thread: in my opinion, "Rogue One" is the best Star Wars movie, full stop. I honestly thought it was a legitimately good movie, and one of the only "Star Wars" movies that would still be good even if it had nothing to do with the Star Wars universe. It was unexpected, but I ended up enjoying it tremendously.

I should probably note that I'm not really a "Star Wars" fan, though, so I don't have any particular affinity for any of the original movies.

New Hope is so great. Was even better before Lucas thought it was a good idea to modernize it with bad CGI. Still, the movie just blows by so quickly.

I will not, however, co-sign on the prequels being held in high regard after all these years. Phantom Menace is so bad, despite Liam Neeson.

Rogue One was great too. The whole movie but especially the ending connects with A New Hope so well.

I saw Rogue One in theaters and thought it was really boring. I hated it.

Do enough people here know Aerosmith’s catalog for this to be a common or uncommon opinion?

I’d have Toys in the Attic at the top of this list - I don’t like every song but it has the most I do. Rock in a Hard Place is a solid last place. I can go either way on Night in the Ruts and Rocks in the 2 & 3 spots depending on the day.
