    Re: Uncommon Opinions

Add me to the list of folks who have mixed to negative feelings about bioshock. I enjoyed Bioshock Infinite quite a bit, but think the original Bioshock is massively overrated. I may go back and replay it at some point but found it to be a slog. The twist is also massively overhyped.

I still need to play BioShock 2. I have the PS4 trilogy collection, so I think I'm going to try to knock that one out this month.

Mixed on BioShock. I feel like it's a game that I should be able to just wreck **** but then I find myself needing to conserve the "powers".

I've been playing it and I love it. The story gets really interesting with all of the tapes and ways you can attack enemies. At first the Big Daddies were intimidating, but the more I learn about the game the more I can set traps/use turrets/cameras to my advantage. The game just feels a little intense sometimes playing with headphones, but it helps with knowing where enemies are.

The game I find that I don't enjoy, but have friends who love it is Bloodborne. I've had the basics explained and how you find information to piece the story together, but the combat is frustrating and I find the experience overall to just not be worth it for the story. I like a challenge, but not the way this game presents it. I don't get a sense of satisfaction. I didn't pay for it so no big deal.

This is my issue exactly. The only way the combat is interesting is if you can use your powers liberally, because the gunplay is pretty vanilla (bordering on crappy IMO). But since it's so resource-limited, and you don't know when/if you will need them for an upcoming fight, I find that I just conserve the plasmids or whatever so 90% of the game I'm just using guns, which makes the game pretty boring since it doesn't do FPS particularly well. I get that you're supposed to be more interested in investigating the story etc of the game, but then eliminate the combat and make it about exploration then. If the primary 'action' of the game is combat/shooting, and that's what you spend the majority of your time doing, they really needed to make that aspect of the game more fun IMO.

I really don't find the From Software games fun at all. I played pretty much all the way through Dark Souls and that was enough for me to know I'm not a fan. It's not that I found the game too difficult, I just found that I wasn't having much fun. At some point, I had to stop and ask myself, "why am I doing this?". I suppose for some people, the challenge of getting something perfect or figuring out what to do or how a game mechanism works is a lot of the fun of playing a game, but for me I find it a bit nonsensical to spend my time trying to figure out what the icons on an in-game menu mean. Not explaining the game mechanics more clearly doesn't really add 'difficulty' to the game IMO, it's just intentionally obtuse.

I'd rather have a smaller, tight nit/constructed world with a narrative rather than FFXV style of "bunch of random open space with 2-3 monsters sprinkled in for laughs.

I had a dream similr to this years back (although in my dream it was more like a game of pac man projected in the sky) and I still think it'll happen

One day we'll see ads in the sky, as in lights in the sky, bat symbol style.

Like you'll look up in the sky and suddenly see the McDonalds logo up there, or Pepsi or something like that. Obviously they'll have to fight for the right to do that. Paying for "ad time".

I agree, which leads me to an on-topic point: Final Fantasy XIII is my favorite Final Fantasy.

For dinner? Or just, like, in general? Because I'd say the latter one is pretty darn common, actually.

People can say what they want about the Star Wars prequels, but Revenge of the Sith was great. The fall of the Jedi/order 66 was one of the coolest moments in the series. Anakin turns into Vader, kills the jedi temple including the kids, everyone finding out Anakin turned to the dark side.

Movie as a whole was one of (if not the) best in the series to me.

"Rogue One" was the best Star Wars movie (including any of the originals). I honestly believe this - it's one of the only 'Star Wars' movies I can think of that would have been a good movie in its own right (even if it had nothing to do with Star Wars whatsoever).

Ultron, Civil War, Infinity war, Endgame...

They pale in comparison to Avengers 1. That movie has to be the pinnacle of the MCU and any superhero movie in terms of in story, action, comedy, pacing.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

The way that movies tied into Episode IV was great.

Solo on the other hand, I wasnt interested in it at all. I'd put it around the Phantom Menace in my rankings, maybe worse.

I agree with Ultron. Really did not enjoy that one much.

Civil War was fun, but I'll give Avengers the edge on that, too.

But Infinity War and End Game?

                              Nope.
