Re: Uncommon Opinions
The movie ones are really only uncommon because 80% of America knows nothing about film and just judge movies on how "cool" they are.
The fact that the Fast and Furious series can get 6 movies is a perfect example of this.Buffalo Bills

I can't believe that out of all the uncommon opinions, the parity conversation was the one that blew up so far.EXPERIENCE MAYHEM FOOTBALLComment

I'd be perfectly content if CCR was the only band I had to listen to for the rest of my life.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Whilst looking in the Blu-ray thread, there are some guys that have 300+ titles in their collection and don't even own a single Criterion release but they have every comic book adapted movie, etc.
How is that even possible?Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Does the entire American population have to be an expert on film too ?
If someone is entertained by something and they want to watch it, who cares if it's not a masterpiece ? Some of my favorite movies are littered with suspect acting and cheesy dialogue.
When I was a little kid I got on a "Who Let the Dogs out" kick and now looking back The Baha Men were one of the stupidest things ever conceived.
Every song and movie isn't meant to cater to everyone.
Just to clarify, I'm cool with people having uncommon opinions and saying something isn't good, but I just hate this whole snobby thought process about what people should and shouldn't find entertaining. Some movies out there with the best acting are down right boring as ****.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Some people just watch movies to enjoy them for what they are, not to get their Roger Ebert on and seriously critique them. You act like Americans should all be film students and watch only the 'finest of cinema', when that's never been the case at all.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Because Criterion are priced at a premium unless you can find a good sale. Most blu-rays you can find under $15-20 now while Criterion's seem to be at least $25 or more.

There's also the fact that some people have no interest in the movies that Criterion offers.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
