Yea and like I said I'm not totally against trying it. It just doesn't grip me. And yet every one I know is like. What you don't like MUT?

This I think will be a really uncommon opinion. But I do not understand the allure of Ultimate team, Diamond Dynasty or game modes like that. I don't get the popularity factor at all.

Sure, I'm not gonna lie. It was nice wasting some time opening some packs with my stubs and seeing what players I might get. I dabbled around exchanging players and stuff. But it just doesn't grip me. I'd much rather play a game with the daily rosters or Franchise. And I sure as hell will never pay for extra stuff. I just don't get it.

I'm with you as well. I'd rather play Shadowverse or another card game if I wanted that.

I have literally never met anyone IRL who has even tinkered with MUT or the FIFA equivalent. When I see how much money EA makes off of those modes, I'm constantly reminded how out-of-step I am with the mainstream gaming community in this day and age.

Ultimate team style mode is all you see people on Twitch playing when it comes to sports games. You rarely see a person on Twitch play the core sports game. It is a money maker that is for sure. Not my thing though. I would rather have classic teams. I never understood why NBA 2K have classic teams, but yet the other sports games don't.

I no longer find any of the main sports titles (Madden, The Show, NBA2K, NHL, or FIFA fun to play at all. Not a single one. And I have zero interest in giving any of them a try again any time soon.

I think I've gotten to this point this year. Like the games aren't bad, I just don't enjoy playing them that much. It feels like a chore getting through a full game at times. I probably won't buy any of them next year, though Madden does fine enough as the game I play to occupy my hands while I listen to podcasts and new albums for now.

Sadly, I don't actually think that's an uncommon opinion anymore. I've been saying this for the past 3-4 years at least. I'm not gonna torture everyone by re-hashing my "sports gaming in 2018 sucks" rant in its entirety, but sports gaming in 2018 sucks. It's the worst it's ever been and getting worse every year.

Which really stinks because think about how good the sports games we have now could be if the trajectory from NES to SNES to PS to Xbox to 360/PS3 continued on the same path. Think about the leap from 2-D Madden to NFL2K5 in basically 1 console generation. But now we just have 1 option for each major sport (and no MLB on Xbox, effectively), no college sports games at all, and continuing-revenue-model game design driving all decisions. I would argue sports gaming has never been in worse shape than it is right now.

I have all but stopped playing sports games as of a few years ago, for the simple reason that they aren't that fun or particularly good. I suppose the upside is I've re-discovered other genres that I've ignored in past decades as sports games consumed all my time. But it's a sad state of affairs that likely won't be improved in the foreseeable future. Sports gaming, at least as it appeals to fans of the sport and accurate representations of that sport in games, is pretty much dead.

it all went downhill for me when nascar, ncaa football & ncaa basketball left ea (or ea left them, if you prefer). I still have my Show though

I got tired of 2k. Got really boring. But I'm still obsessed with the Show. Picked up madden 19 for 1 v 1. It's fun but I'm not gonna play anything else. Longshot is lame.

I definitely somewhat feel the same way. I'll buy 2K19 this year, and I like the series, but I do get bored very quickly of the games. FIFA is a staple for me, but soccer has slowly become my favorite sport so that's the biggest reason why I play it so much, and I've also added PES into the mix as well. But I definitely get what you mean. It seems like sports titles have gotten less and less fun each year.

I probably mentioned this before but if so, it bears repeating at this time of year:

MLB > NFL

I feel you. Less drama in the MLB is more appealing to most people, including myself.
