MLB/NFL are about equal for me. College football is ahead of both.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
This is vastly underrated. I can lose hours watching those without even meaning to. I don't know how non-skaters feel about them though.
Another thing I like about them is the pride and care some of the filmmakers/editors take into providing an artistic vibe to them (same with surfing, but I don't watch those videos). I even like watching realistic video montages of the EA Skate franchise because of how people are able to transfer over actual film work into that.
Even if they are just regular shots, it's still fun to watch regardless.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I can't watch skateboard vids because I'm terrified of gruesome injuries. I can't handle that ****, I know it happens in all sports, but everytime I see an x games style skateboarder I shudder.
Also, regarding baseball, I picked up new cable recently and saw something on MLBN that blew my mind. "Plays of the week". This is the first time I've had MLBN and I got so excited to see that on my guide. Baseball isn't my #1 sport but I still like it, and I'm sitting around devouring an hourlong show of highlights and thinking, where have you been?
Not just baseball, but all sports and all networks, I'm tired of being told "people know where to find highlights on their own" (I just realized I may have dipped into the music conversation from a minute ago haha), and it blows my mind we don't have highlight shows anymore.
Forgive my ignorance, but do these highlight shows still exist anywhere else? It took me back to 20 years ago as a younger teen when I couldn't wait to load up any sports show with an entire show dedicated to highlightsWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

That's bringing it old-school! I loved that show as well. It was like "Sportscenter" for people that didn't have cable (which I didn't when I was a little kid).Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
My exact rant from a few pages back re: ESPN. I think the alleged "Worldwide Leader" and others are really missing something about their key demographic by not understanding that people still want packaged, curated highlights and plays of the week type sports programming. I think FS1 had an opportunity to fill the void that Sportscenter willingly vacated, but they too have decided sports highlights can be found 'anywhere' and no one wants old-school sportscenter-type programming anymore. Even though the entire demographic that made ESPN the 'worldwide leader' wants that exactly...

Re: Uncommon Opinions
A lot of this is consistent with the general trend of all programming being down (in general, with some notable exceptions), but their losses are bad even compared to the general trends. It's probably impossible to pin it on one specific thing, but to me, a lot of it has to do with not gaining new viewers and losing older established viewers. Bear in mind that vanilla "Sportscenter" is still among their highest-rated shows, beyond most of the "3 guys yelling at each other on a split screen" interchangeable programming they have on for most of the rest of the day. And that's without the force of personality and panache that the likes of Dan Patrick and Kenny Mayne used to bring to the table.Comment
