Own two Webers, one charcoal and one gas.
Had the gas grill for 12 years and the charcoal one for a longer period of time.
The gas one is a Weber Genesis Silver A.
The grill grates were well rusted after reading this thread, almost ashamed of how I've taken care of it. My father never taught me and I just glanced over the book that came with the grill 12 yrs ago.
Long story short, decided to get new grill grates for the gas grill for an early fathers day present. Googled and Home Depot had Weber cast iron grill grates. Great, brought them home and noticed right away the newer grates sit lower near the burners. The older ones were much wider.
Will these new grates work just as well sitting lower near the burners? I just made some quick hamburgers and hot dogs(well, didn't make those) and I couldn't tell a difference.
Thoughts?
Maybe I should have went directly to Weber on this one or is that the only size they make them now?
Thank you and happy grilling.
Edit-- Upon further review, I got the wrong grill grates. I cooked on them once, cleaned it, will Home Depot take them back with receit and if I clean them real good?
