I use G/R Pepper, Onion, Mushroom, Cherry Tomatoes and Zucchini.
You want stuff that will soften well when cooked without burning.
If youre using garlic in your marinade, you can go with sweet onions to counter balance.

That's pretty typical of what I do as well, probably just classic kebab fodder.

Thinking about what else might do well, cauliflower might work, so might broccoli, you'd just have to watch so they don't burn. Artichoke hearts might work as well. Probably my favorite idea though, bacon wrapped brussels sprouts. I'm sure they've been done before, I just never thought of doing it, but you will see my pictures of bacon wrapped brussels sprout skewers in this thread soon.

Kebab fodder is onions and that's pretty much it. At least with the filet kebabs.

Mix/marinate the meat and onions in red pepper paste, salt, and olive oil. Boom. Done.

Chicken kebab we did at my friend's house a few weeks ago. Wasn't very good because we bought the chicken already pre-marinated.

Grandma skewering filet kebab at my uncle's house. This is the real **** right here.

Ok so this sucks and I'm super late, but I need help. I need someone to post the pics of the winners from cinco de mayo week. In separate posts of course.

My home pc is in the shop, osatwork barely works at work, and tapatalk won't show the images.

I'm kinda stuck right now, any help?

Browsing for houses (we might try and sell our house in Henderson to move closer to downtown Vegas where work is moving this fall) and found one with a "built in BBQ"

Was kinda surprised to see this monster:

Grilled burgers and sliced dogs for my niece, nephew, and mom on the gas grill.

At the same time, my step dad was frying croppie, home made fries, and hush puppies

Also had my chicken, red and green pepper, and squash chicken skewers on the charcoal for my friends.

Great night of friends, family, food, and drinks. I'll upload some pics tomorrow.

Very surprised by how the skewers turned out. Marinated with soy sauce, honey, and vegetable oil.

Suggestions for a relatively cheap but good grill and/or smoker? Thinking of getting one with my bros for Dad for Fathers' Day/his birthday. Not sure how much use we'll get since our backyard is tiny and he probably shouldn't be eating that stuff anyway, but still.

After visiting Kansas City in 2009, I'm DYING to make meats the same way those guys do.

Good cheap grill, Char-Griller. It's nothing fancy, but they are sturdy and cheap.

A Char-Griller and a side fire box can make for a decent cheap smoker, with some tweaking it can be great. Out of the box, it leaks a lot of air making fire control tricky.

Best cheap smoker around is to make yourself an UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker). Find yourself a cheap metal drum (unlined, food safe), a couple of replacement Weber 22" grates, find an old Weber on craigslist for the lid, go to lowes for a few supplies and you'll make something that's easily under $70, is simple to use, and will make fantastic food. It will basically end up cooking like this: http://www.amazon.com/Weber-731001-S.../dp/B001I8ZTJA for about a fifth of the price.
