            Well that sounds absolutely delightful.

            How are smoked veggies, anyway?

Made a nice grass fed ribeye last night on the Weber charcoal grill. Used the chimney starter and vortex. Should have took a picture.

Chimney starter is an essential tool. I hate going to somebody else's house and watching them douse the charcoal in lighter fluid. It completely ruins the taste.

I will slap anyone I see using either lighter fluid or charcoals that already have that stuff in them. You can get a great weber chimney for less than 15 dollars that will last you an eternity.

Here is a picture of what I am aiming for............we'll see how they turn out lol

Smoked veggies are great, like squash, but with armadillo eggs, the jalapeno is inside a good layer of sausage, so I am not sure how "smoked" the veggie actually gets in this case.

Speaking of charcoal, I don't think I will ever use anything other than Royal Oak Lump. Thought it was a cheapo, but the stuff burns hot and forever.

                          Re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread

I moved at the beginning of the year and lost access to a grill and smoker.

That puts me on the market! I've always gone gas because of the convenience, cost, and cleanup. But I'm seriously thinking of going for a charcoal grill with side box for smoking. I grill so much though I'm worried that lump charcoal budget will get blown out. Decisions, decisions.

Yeah I actually have a propane starter I use. Rigged it so I can use the big tank instead of the mini Coleman tanks. I just use it long enough to get the coals started then turn it off. I used trays for a long time but the chimney starter is great.

Pretty sure this is what my Dad has, and he added the smoker attachment as well. That thing has insanely positive reviews. Rarity for any product these days.

Needless to say, I have grill envy. We have a little propane grill where I'm at now, my first experience with a gas grill. I do love the ease of it but I feel like I'm cheating on my charcoal roots.
