Some people are out of their damn mind. Tornadoes are so unpredictable sometimes. They can shift direction on you without warning. I would have told dude screaming to just shut up.

Unfortunately, yes. Get out and get to the best cover possible. Its a scary thought.

You're better off in a ditch than in a vehicle that won't move.

            Re: Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak

Bunch of rumors that a well known storm chaser and his team were killed Friday. Really hoping the news isn't true, but it's looking like it is.

I have a friend who lives in Moore, luckily he is okay. My prayers go out to all the people affected in the tornados.

                Re: Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak

Unfortunately the very men that work towards saving the lives of these people from these tornados, have died doing exactly that.

Sad news to hear that both his crew and more people in Oklahoma have lost their lives. For anyone that watched the discovery channel's Storm Chasers you would have seen Tim Samaras and his crew getting in the way of these tornados deploying probes to capture data within the tornado, to further enhance warning times.

I hope within the next 10 years, we will further understand these destructive forces of nature and many lives will be spared.

Word was that one of the Storm Chaser guys was sucked out of their vehicle and found about 1/2 mile from where the vehicle itself landed.

                    Re: Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak

Our local weather TV person said that during the last tornado, there were 150 tornado chasers surrounding OKC. He said he wouldn't be surprised if there is a law or two passed because he made 150 circles around the area of OKC. His point was that emergency vehicles had a difficult time getting through and around the tornado chasers.

                      Re: Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak

Problem is you having chasers then you have scientists. Some of these people just go round in some SUV or Pickup just hoping to get a hit or two on YouTube, to the point were the guys who do it to help save lifes in the future can't even do their job.

Maybe you should need some kind of license to do it, and you can only obtain one if you are doing something that helps contribute i.e. Research.
