    Something I don't understand...

    Road rage.

To me, there is absolutely no point getting someone mad on the road. There are many different things that can happen, because some of these people these days are complete lunatics.

Earlier tonight, my dad and I were in a car and he was going at a decent speed in a grocery store parking lot. A crazy person pulls out in front of us, but my dad had plenty of room. Regardless, he slammed on the brakes and honked the horn. This is what gets me. There is no reason to honk a horn. This person then follows us, and pulls up next to us at a stoplight and goes on a rant about how he was "speeding" (can't say I disagree) and that he should follow the driving rules in this state (I'm on vacation out of state). Even though it was nonsense, it turns into a swearing match, which I hate even more because of some private school morals ingrained into my head a few years back. I have never swore, and hate when people swear out loud.

Anyway, my point is that some of these people can be mentally insane or something and even be carrying guns or other weapons in their cars and try to shoot you. Some people may try to run you off the road. There are too many bad things that can happen when you purposely enrage someone by unnecessarily honking your horn or cutting someone off. Just have some patience and deal with it, unless it is clear that they are going to cause an accident which rarely happens from what I see.

How do you guys feel about this?

I can't act like it doesn't happen to me (road rage). I also cuss like a drunk sailor, so there's that.

I agree that road rage can lead to nothing but bad things. I compare it to the Internet: people troll and run around saying whatever they please, mainly because they know it's anonymous and nothing bad will happen. Same thing goes for road rage, except the difference is, like you said, someone COULD decide to follow or hurt you in some manner.

Both are unnecessary and childish in my opinion.

My mom has pretty bad road rage and she's a former Navy person so that's where I have learned all of my swear words. I don't like it because it then makes her be in a bad mood and rant about it for awhile and like you said who knows what happens on the road. However, I understand her rage sometimes as she's used to driving with 2 kids in the car and takes it as someone is threatening their lives.

I hate the teenagers/young adults that drive like maniacs in their parents fancy cars, you honk the horn at them and they pull up at a light cursing us out like it's our fault. A few months ago some kid was going at least 70 in a 45, nearly hit the guy in front of him so he cuts us off and just misses us by probably at least a foot. Then proceeds to call my mom a fat cow at the red light, took all my strength to not step out of the car and try to kick his ***.

I'm sorry, but I just lose it in a car. Driving for me is not fun. I would murder someone if I lived in a big city. People can't drive period; illegal lane changes, pulling out and slowing down in front of you, people who live on the godamn brakes.

I can't freaking stand it when people go under the speed limit, that **** drives me nuts. I have road rage, and it's bad.

I actually think getting angry on the road is an acceptable place to do so.

Driving can be life or death given the circumstances. If someone ****s up and you could have easily gotten into a life-altering accident, I think it's thoroughly okay to get angry.

On the contrary getting road rage while driving can potentially be very dangerous and life threatening if gone too far.

Im pretty mellow on the road. I only get 'road rage' when someone is in the car with me and I'll pretend to be angry in a joking way. But if Im alone I couldnt really care any less; so long as im safe and aware of psychos driving around me. People do say Im a boring driver so meh.

Ha, I think I am mostly the same way.

I've never been involved in an accident or gotten any speeding tickets, though I've only been driving for six years.

                  It's simple.

People shouldn't drive like *******s and people like me won't get road rage.

Here is the solution, stay out of my damn way since most of the people on the road don't know how to drive. I believe we should enforce rules similar to Scandinavia where you must pass in the neighborhood of 6 driving tests before we ever let you onto the road. At least that will get rid of most of the traffic on the I95 corridor and I can drive in peace.

                      Re: Something I don't understand...

I lost my **** on someone a few days ago, but only because they almost caused a huge pileup.

There's a big *** sign that says merge left and the lane ends, but they decide to ride the on ramp going 45 onto a 70 mph interstate.

It hangs everyone out to try who needs to accelerate and get over and then he sees a cop sitting off the shoulder ahead and locks up the brakes completely. I went off the shoulder to keep from rear ending them.

I'm calm for the most part but I do talk about other drivers a lot when I'm driving, even if its something subtle and me not getting genuinely pissed. Little things like hanging everyone out to dry at a red light or cutting through parking places in a parking lot.

I don't really honk my horn, though. That part I completely agree with. I absolutely hate car horns and when people use them for dumb reasons. I just want something that lets me relay a personal message to other drivers.

I hate the idiots that are honking their horns like crazy at Red Lights. It's like wtf you want people to do? Disobey the law and go through a Red when everyone is at a complete stop.

I've never seen anyone honk at a red light when it is red. What I do is if the light turns green and you are the only car in front of me, I count to 3 then I honk the horn. Pay attention. If you don't have the sense to watch the lights, you obviously need a reminder.

I've really tried to work on my cursing lately. Given my work environment, it is pretty tough, but has been attainable.

However, in a vehicle, I can't help myself. I've really pondered giving up driving to help.

I think it's okay to get angry (but only for a quick second or so). There's no need to act on the rage and pull up close to their window and curse them out or something. You never know who you're messing with.
