Watching speed skating. Every race I've watched so far (probably 8 races now) the one who starts on the outside wins. It's the 500, so they do two laps, and every single time the skater who gets the inside for the final lap has won.

Just getting to it in my recording and the 3rd, 4th, and 5th pairs have been just the opposite.

Canada dominated the moguls! Won 4/6 medals(a gold and silver in each of mens and womens event).

Now tied for the lead in golds(3) and overall medals(7)!

Sadly, I've had people on Facebook say the same exact thing - "There are, idk, at least 30 cities in the US that are worse than Sochi," and "Detroit is 100 times worse" are both actual quotes from people I know. Also, I believe one said "I think what they've done in 7 years is remarkable."

They also refuse to listen to the logical response of - "It's not that we're being hypocritical because there are bad areas of the US, but none of those cities have had 50+ billion dollars and 7 years to get ready for the Olympics and are still a gigantic **** hole."

It's amazing, man, it really is. Not having running water, walls in the bathroom, power, blah blah blah are not "little things." This is not a case of the Media blowing things out of proportion. It's just bad. If they couldn't be ready in 7 years, they should've never had the Olympics there.

The hotel situation was pathetic, but at least the venues are up to speed. I've been really impressed with them.

500 speed skating today was insane. Spoiler in case y'all wanna watch it tonight. Which I highly recommend.

I feel really bad for Stemkens. He thought he had a gold, but then lost it. That race was so close.

Anyway I'm excited for half pipe and ski slopestyle tomorrow.

Stat of the day: 82 of the Netherlands 86 Winter Olympic medals have come in speed skating. I guess the Dutchmen have nothing better to do.....

(I don't think that includes the ones they've won so far--I got that from Wikipedia)

The US got their first medal in singles luge ever today when Erin Hamlin got Bronze.
