Two weeks before Thanksgiving and we are already having our work Thanksgiving lunch here at work. It is just me or is that way too early.

As a Christian, I am still baffled why not saying Merry Christmas or a company not having it on their merchandise is such a big deal. If I say Merry Christmas to someone and they say Happy Holidays back, I don't even think twice about it. The whole Starbucks thing is just absolutely ridiculous IMO.

I'm still salty over stores opening up Black Friday sales on Turkey Day. Savages, man. Savages.

This "PC Society" is stupid. It reminds me of the South Park episode back in their first season, when they were making fun of people getting so worked up over mentionings of Christmas. Putting on a holiday play, without santa, frosty, rudolph, christmas, christmas lights, or anything like that, cause people got offended by anything that even referenced Christmas in any way.
Thing is, Santa, Rudolph, Frosty, etc, have nothing to do with the religious aspect of Christmas, really. In fact, they represent the shift towards the commercialization and more secular representation of the holiday season in general. So for people to balk at even that level of Christmas season acknowledgment is bizarre to me, lol. Then again, there are people who live their lives wishing to voice their displeasure with something/anything a daily basis, so there's that.

My old JCPenney store opens at 3PM Thanksgiving day. I'm so glad I'm out of retail.

Thats the thing about it too. Most who celebrate Christmas dont even do it at all for any sort of religious aspect. Its all about things like santa, frosty, snow, rudolph, presents, family, days off and so on.

But people seem to still take offense to Christmas and dont want public mentioning of it,even though its more about all the commercialized stuff than anything else to most people

That disgusts me. I'm sure those employees are getting time and a half pay for working a holiday, right? Ha ha, sure.

I can't be mad at the businesses for wanting to make money. That's what they are made for. It's the PEOPLE who created the demand. There's enough people who want to go out that day to justify opening on Thanksgiving, and that's the real scary part.

Technically, I worked on Thanksgiving once but I was an overnight stocker. Typically 11pm-7am but we came in at 8pm and went until 330am. But if I was still in retail, if they told me I had to work on Thanksgiving, I would walk. My rebellion would just be a drop in the bucket, but there's some lines that can't be crossed. More people need to grow a pair and do the same and these businesses would feel it at least a little bit. Not like a retail job is really paying the bills anyway unless you're in management.

The only places I can see opening on Thanksgiving are like Best Buy's. No one is going to JC Penney on Thanksgiving, I'm sorry.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

My last Black Friday there I worked Thursday 8PM-Friday 8AM and then came back in later that day and did 5-9. Got time and a half for the four hours on Thursday but just regular pay for the rest. It was completely unnecessary too...we were busy from like 8-10 PM and were completely dead the rest of the time. All anyone cared about were these stupid *** snow globes that we handed out at the customer service desk.

My neighbor violently attacked my wall while blasting his stereo today. Not sure what that was about, all I did was turn the shower on, if he's got beef with the noise of my shower he's being a little hypocritical with the music blasting. This is one of those times it would be great to have social skills

I just happened to be going through the guide and saw it on. Definitely enjoyed it. But it made realize how average of a champ Tyson was as well because there was no one in the division any more back then. So many names I just went "Huh? No wonder he won in 30 seconds!"

I have social skills and I still don't like dealing with ignorant neighbors. You never know which ones will be nice about it and just don't realize how loud they are being and those which will hold a grudge to no end because you just asked them to turn down something that shouldn't be loud in the first place. Neighbor above me back in Akron just became loud all of a sudden my last year there.

Not sure what triggered it, so I countered first by being louder. Many can take the hint that when they have to turn theirs up more, it's probably loud. Then the next thing he did was start running something that just vibrated the bedroom floor all night. Hadn't heard it at all in the 2 years I had been there prior. So I left notes on the door asking to turn off or move whatever it was off; we worked opposite schedules so I felt I could justify it. Then I asked the landlord to talk to him, and of course she was all nice about it and said he didn't have it up that loud or anything. And this is the guy that barely paid his rent every month and I never missed a payment. Sure, side with the guy you can't always get your money from!

Thankfully by summer, the window unit had to run all night which gave me plenty of white noise and then got the hell out of there in July. What really pissed me off is he leached free cable off those of us in the building that paid for it because of the pitiful wiring. So I cut the line to his apartment the day I left.

But yea, being social doesn't make it any easier to deal with those problems. And sadly, most people feel that way so waiting it out hoping someone else will say something doesn't usually work either.

Lol. Honestly I think I prefer front-runner fans to the loyal "we" fans. Guys that are like, we need to play better on defense, we're looking really good this year, etc. You're not throwing up lobs to LeBron, or in the huddle with Pop, so it's not "we."
