It really is amazing how much getting down to a certain weight changes running performance. I don't just mean in terms being fat killing cardio and speed/efficiency. I played football in high school, and rugby from that time until I was 27, and it was always about living in the sweet spot between size, and cardio.
Anyway, long distance running was always a pretty challenging activity long-term. I could do it, but I was constantly afflicted with leg pains and things like back problems. Once I dropped below 160lbs all the problems went away permanently. Zero joint and tibia problems, and am now at a really at a great spot between strength from a lifting routine, and distance running. I haven't been this weight since I was like 13 years old.
To anyone with joint problems from running, I'd suggest it's possible you could drop your weight down a bit more and be rid of them.
