    Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Down 11 lbs from last Friday. Mom, wife and myself started diet with Jorge Cruise's Belly Fat Cure diet. Feels so good to be eating right again, and looking forward to meals - and knowing that any workout I do is going to result in some weight loss.

    Started: 209 (6/20/15)
    Current: 199 (6/27/15)

1 more week of the diet portion, but should be easy to stay consistent from there as I have zero cravings for sweets or carbs. Jorge's focus is on hidden sugars in Fruit, Carbs and processed foods - and how to remove them from your eating habits. Really hard to think about going back now knowing just how much sugar is in everything and what it does to you.

I tore my left hip flexor running hills. I've gained a good 11 pounds since it happened back at the end of April. Still unable to run and will know in about two weeks if surgery will be required.

Doesn't look like I will be able to run the Marine Corps 40th Marathon in October at this rate.

I hurt my back last fall and took a week off, then pushed it. Hurt it again, took a couple weeks off. Hurt it again I'm January. Stepped back into the gym for the first time since early January. I'm still 190, was 194 when I got hurt, and just repped out 225 8 times with no spot. Really freaking impressed. I was only maxing 275-280 when I got hurt, so I expected like 2 to 3 reps max at 225 after a near 6 month hiatus.

Pretty pumped my strength still seems to be here, at least in my bench. Can't wait to finally squat again. I've missed it too much. And bring able to do abs again will be nice. I've lost so much definition all over.

Gotta start somewhere though, the road back will be easier than the 1st time.

Ok boys need some help here.

I'm at the biggest I have ever been. Now hovering just under 300 lbs at 5"11.
I have to admit that I'm embarrassed I have gotten this big and need to make some lifestyle changes to get me back into the athlete shape I was in high school and university.

I'm turning 40 in just under 2 months and i would like to start getting back to being around 200 lbs no matter how long it takes to get there.

I have done cross-fit with a trainer and the paleolithic diet in the past with pretty solid results...I got down to about 230 or so. It was very expensive for the training and once I quit with a combo of a job change I just never got back consistently into any workout routine and life took over (I'll admit a little depression came back into my life and with it came bad habits and weight gain).

I'm thinking of joining the YMCA near my house and training there. But i really need some advice on how to get started again and get motivated to keep going etc. I still play hockey once a week and surprisingly I get a lot of "you move pretty good for a big guy" when I play. I play with mid 20 year old's and I really enjoy but want to keep up as I am getting older.

Any help / advice is appreciated. I have a good juicer as well and want to incorporate some juicing at some point.

Jorge's plan says 14 pounds in 14 days, I'm on Day 11 and I'm already at 14.5 pounds - it's the real deal, and ridiculously simple compared to anything I've tried.

Just downloaded the book. Will start soon as I understand the plan.

Find a plan and roll with it. Juicing works, salads with a protein works, Paleo works and now I will try Matt's suggestion for a change. I have a Zombie Run in two weeks that I will probably do even with a torn hip flexor. It's been 2 months and I'm going to start jogging light on Monday as I can't stand the down time.

Reading this thread makes me ashamed of myself for how I've ate and drank over the past month. I really went off the deep end.

It's high time I get my **** together again. I've been hitting the gym during lunch a lot of days, but it's not very helpful with my diet being garbage. I think I'm just going to have to start working out at night to give myself something to do. I usually get bored and have a few drinks while playing PS4. I've still maintained the slimmer me, but I'm not making any real progress with muscle development and growth.

It starts next week. I'll be climbing/hiking to the top of Mt Fuji on the weekend of the 10th.

It's the real deal. I haven't done any cardio, HIIT or weight lifting. All I do are squats every other day, no weight - just 3x10; that is it. My wife does no work out, and has lost 10 lbs.

It's simple too, just watch your sugar. Look on nutrition labels and see what product has low carbs + low sugar. Most of the things I've eaten have zero sugars and carbs (cheese, salads, etc).

Every morning, i have bacon and eggs

Dinner tonight - Making fried chicken here in a bit, chicken breast coated with Almond Flour and some butter to add. Looking forward to it.

                          Sounds like Atkins 2.0.

I lost 35lbs on Atkins, but gained it all back and then some.

He makes a point of emphasis that it is not Atkins. You can preview the book on Google books if you want. I too was on Atkins and it is not the same.

25 minutes on the stationary bike
3x ten 4 count bicycle crunches
                              3x 15 ball crunches
                              3x 30, 45, 60 second planks
                              3x 15 regular sit ups
15 minutes on the rowing machine
3x 15 reps of 100 lb resistance on the ab crunch machine
10 minutes of shooting around the court to cool down.

That's the plan I set for myself while at work last night and hit the gym immediately after turnover. It was pretty effective. I'm going to mix it up next cardio and ab day. I've got duty tomorrow, but Tuesday I'm rolling into the typical back/bicep/abs rotation. I found a cool app that lets me build my own workout plan and it was helpful today.

Our gym has plenty of smith machine racks, but I don't feel confident enough in my ability to have good form doing squats and dead lifts for leg day. I'm still going to implement Barbell Rows, which I've never done before.

So far for my next back/bi workout I've come up with.. I'm sure I'll change some of it on the fly or add.

10 minutes of Stationary Bike Cardio
                              3x wide grip lat pulldowns
3x Dumbell alternate arm hammer curls
                              3x Barbell bent over rows
                              3x 15 raised leg crunches
                              3x 30, 45, 60 second plank
                              3x preacher curls
3x bench dumbbell back shrugs (lying face down)
                              60 second plank

My roommate and I started using our altitude training masks in our workouts last week, and I absolutely love it - definitely takes the workout to the next level. I was only using to run and play flag football games, and decided to give it a try in the weight room after seeing a few people use it.

6x a week in the gym:

                                Saturday - Chest/Back
                                Sunday - Arms
                                Monday - Legs/Abs
                                Tuesday - Chest/Back
                                Wednesday - Arms
                                Thursday - Rest
                                Friday - Abs

Today is the first day of my meal plan through Muscle Maker Grill (only $84 a week for two meals, lunch and dinner, a week), so hopefully I can pack on about 10 more pounds before the end of the summer.
