I find more purchase with this in subtraction, like 521 - 97 is like 521 - 100, but three less numbers are taken away. So..... 424.
I especially do this well with mental multiplication though. The only two problems I can have with that are visually storing some of the numbers and accidentally inserting/omitting a digit in an answer (like putting tens of thousands instead of hundred thousands answers, etc.).Last edited by Blzer; 11-06-2021, 04:28 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I've seen the Harry Potter movies many times, but I always just thought when Neville had that ball that turns red when you've forgotten something, it was just a joke (as in, you're always gonna forget something so the ball will always be red).
Turns out, it was staring me in the face the whole time. He wasn't wearing his full school uniform (the black robe) during that scene. That was what he forgot.Comment

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
As I'm getting a new phone this Friday (Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra), I'm checking out some videos on it. One thing somebody did was test the build quality of it in several ways.
Among the ways included dropping it in water for 60 seconds, as well as driving over it with a car. It worked perfectly fine afterward in both scenarios.
I had no idea our technology was to that level. I know that we do "waterproof" relatively well, but I also always hear those stories about people needing to put their phones in rice or something or another because it stopped working after getting wet, and with so many buttons and slots I naturally thought that submerging it for so long would also render it temporarily obsolete. The car thing was definitely next-level, though.

Now onto something that I don't know and perhaps one can help me... I'm getting information with regard to how to keep the long-term battery life strong (essentially keeping the phone within like a 30-80% charge as often as possible, among other things), but I don't know how I'm supposed to "start" with it. Does the battery start with 100% charge? In its first run, should I get it to 100%, drop it to 0%, then work it back up? I seem to recall that the initial outing with these devices are of their own special breed compared to that of its later normal use. Or perhaps I am incorrect and I just operate within the 30-80% automatically.
Any help here would be appreciated. WHOA!!!Blzr finally ditching the flip phone for a smart phone
As for the YouTube videos, I'd take them with a grain of salt and I also wouldn't recommend trying those things yourself.
As for battery life, I usually charge mine up and then let it drop to around 50% before charging it again. I don't use my phone much so that generally takes a few days for it to drop. I just got my current phone in November so it's pretty new but as it gets older it will deplete faster. There's probably 1+ threads in the E&T section where you could ask though.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

I think it’s best practice to use the battery all the way up on that first charge, charge fully, then from there generally charge when it’s low (or if you’ll need a full battery) — low being like, under 20%. Of course, depending on how heavily you’re using it. Also, heat and cold can wear a battery down fast.
Now I’m sure someone else will tell you the opposite for best practice, because I feel like I’ve heard conflicting methods. Battery could just die for no reason no matter what you did right or wrong!NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....
Yeah, as long as you don't let the battery die all the way and let it sit like that for a week, I think it'll be fine either way. I usually set my phone to the lightest power saving mode by default. It just limits how much background activity/syncing that goes on constantly. Batteries only having so many power life cycles. 300-500, supposedly.Comment

Just as a fair warning, I've never treated batteries well in my life. My current laptop battery dies within a few minutes, literally. They stay on or charging all the time, but then again those can be more easily replaced if needed.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

That if you have to take out a 5/16" nut, you don't buy a 5/16" wrench. There's is actually a chart and all
