Speaking of milk, what do those people put in their cereal then? Do they just eat whole grain gluten free cereal filled with nuts, berries, raisins while using water or something...Just don't be the ones to pour the cereal last.

But they have sugar in them! How dare you eat anything with more than a gram of sugar in it, even though basically every item ever made has at least a few grams of sugar listed on the package.

Even 100% natural, no sugar added fruit juice has lots of sugar in them. Its NATURAL sugars but apparently even drinking that is bad.

So, being a health..."specialist"...man that sounds pretentious as ****.

Some sugars are natural to your diet. You simply can't avoid them. Now that's where natural versus added comes into play.

Like this should be obvious. The sugars found in a can of Mountain Dew are*not the same as those in a cup of fresh berries.

Foods with natural sugars tend to be low in calories and sodium, and high in water content and many important vitamins and minerals for your body. Like honey or syrup contain more nutrients than highly processed ones, like white sugar. But the amounts of these nutrients are so microscopic, so they probably won’t have a measurable impact on your health. To your body, all sources of sugar are overall the same. Just depends if they have nutritional benefits to you.

Eating "healthy" is just a crapshoot, and everyone is very sensitive to the subject, lol.

It's what I said a while back too at some reports.

Certain foods have been deemed healthy for so many years, only for people to find out years later it's not as good for you as originally thought.

Not sure about the US, but in Canada they had the 4 main food groups. As kids everyone was taught them and how you should have things from all groups a day.

Now they've recently changed it I believe to 3 groups or maybe it was 6 or something like that with changes to them in terms of what's healthy and what isnt.

Like how could a food be good for you 10 years ago and now suddenly it's not? Just seems like a giant marketing scam to get people buying certain things.

Even the new trend of plant based food items. They've been around for years, but only the past few years have they been rebranded as plant based and super healthy. They are good for you and all, but you know in the future they'll be like "it has a high soy content, that's not good for you" and then move on to the next trend.

See, this is where you just have to educate yourself and not fall into the fads that come and go. Not saying you aren't as it seems you are, just people in general.

I know your 10 years thing is probably more or less a fad thing of a few years, but I do like that number because of healthy people 2030. They do a lot of research and report back after 10 years. So healthy people 2020 reports are now up and reported which shows that even though cholesterol has been a HUGE thing to look after, we as people FOR THE MOST PART don't need to look at it as seriously any longer. Now if we suck, in 2030-2039 it might come back on the list.

Just because something is deemed "healthy" it is up to you to decide if it had the nutrients that fit for you. Yes, apples are overall good for you. However, my diabetic mother-in-law cannot eat an apple as a snack because for some reason the sugar content within apples raise her blood sugar levels too high. As an example.

Healthy eating, nutritional values and overall "diets" are just what you make of them. I hate the word diet, but it's the word everyone likes to use. The way you eat is your lifestyle choice for food. Can you make lifestyle changes? Of course. Can you change what you eat? You betcha.

That's when it becomes on you to figure out what you're body needs, and not fall into, "well this website/article/food person says that I should REALLY watch out for bananas." Well, okay. Bananas at a certain time of their ripeness have a pH level that is super acidic and can mess up your stomach acid. So, make sure to not eat a banana at that ripeness?

I don't know. This was a lot of rambling and stuff that is just on my mind. Nothing truly directed at you, but people in general. Lol.

I've been using almond milk for the past 5 years or so. I don't drink it as a beverage unless I'm craving some chocolate milk or a cold glass of milk - which is typically rare. Most of the time I'm mixing it into a breakfast bowl or using it with cereal for snacking.

And don't get me started on salt. Yes, too much is horrible for you, but 0 salt in food is horrible too. Food with no salt has no flavour. Even spices or sauces you put in food at least has some salt in it.

I'm the weird exception on that. I prefer food bland, lol.

Like my wife and her family salt the **** out of EVERYTHING. I have never heard of salting fruit before, and God it's terrible!

I also grew up in a very good strict home. Boiled chicken, boiled broccoli and that was lunch and dinner and then on Thursdays blueberries got added into meals.

Whenever I have a steak with Grill Mates on it my taste buds freak out!

I hope Bard can help me on this, but you do need some salt in your diet to maintain blood pressure.

As far as I understood it actually, it's really more about a salt-to-water ratio, and your ability to exercise (or rather work up a sweat). You can consume good amounts of salt as long as you're consuming great amounts of water and you build up enough endurance to sweat out some of that salt as well. I could be talking out of my *** though.

Now for those who consume brown rice and vegetables with their meats as regularly as I do, I never put any butter or salt on my steamed veggies, and I'll put kind of a light amount on my rice. I think most of the salt actually comes from my meat seasoning, and when I eat a piece of meat I back it up with some rice (in the same bite, if you know what I mean). It's probably helping save me a little bit when it comes to salt consumption.

You're not talking out of your ***.

Sodium is important to keeping your body functioning and for your muscles to move. Sodium also plays one of the key factors in your nervous system working properly. Can't remember if it is the CNS or the PNS, however at the moment.

Edit: I want to say the recommendation is only 1 TEAspoon of salt a day. Some people think tablespoon.

Not editing the last post as this is more of a more important topic.

Salt and sodium are used interchangeably, but they shouldn't. I still make that mistake.

Salt, you should truly only have one teaspoon a day. Sodium is insane. Keep that **** low if possible. That means no Taco Bell every Tuesday, lol. Packaged and processed food have a lot of sodium, and that is of course one of the biggest thing that contributes to high blood pressure.

Just wanted to make that point. Sodium chloride vs. just sodium.

That's exactly how I am. Veggies I eat how they come. I don't add butter (to anything) and never add salt. It's just a personal preference for me, but also truly is the healthier option to do.

However, me being a health guy. My wife LOVES salt and butter. We get separate tubs of popcorn when we go to the theaters, lol.
