Going by my 10+ years on here, discussion of world events has usually been acceptable. I remember long, substantive discussions about the Bin Laden raid, the Russian invasion of Georgia, the Boston Marathon bombing (not a world event per se, but same kind of thing), etc. It's the red state/blue state pettiness that's out-of-bounds.

I'll obviously defer to the mods' judgment though.

There was also a discussion a couple weeks ago or maybe a month ago of something politics related and Mill said to drop it. So I was just basing it off of that discussion.


Edit: Nevermind it was Burghfan not Mill. And it was about the Westborough Baptist church.

Historically, we support democratically elected governments. However, President Erdoğan has been seeking to turn Turkey more autocratic and trying to gain himself more power. The military claims they are doing this to protect democracy.

Turkey is a key ally in the region (they are a member of NATO). We share a military base with the Turkish military. We reportedly store nuclear weapons in Turkey. It'll be interesting to see how the US will handle this situation.

Hardly an expert on this, but the coup doesn't seem to be going well. Government leaders on TV condemning it, mass protests against it, civilians are getting fired upon, divided military, and even the Kurdish opposition groups are condemning it.

I can't tell from Tapatalk but are you a supporter? You can only have a custom avatar as a supporter. Otherwise you have to have a generic sports avatar that OS gives you a choice of.
