Re: Off Topic 3: Civil War
The only thing RadioShack ever did for me was XMOD RC cars.
Everything else they did was trumped by local "mom and pop" businesses. It didn't take long for their products to start becoming way over priced in comparison to the competition and they just didn't have anything to offer.Comment

Off Topic 3: Civil War
I feel like Sports Authority had a major national competitor, while Best Buy and Barnes and Noble really don't. Every BB/B&N I've been in are always busy, while Sports Authority was barren (mostly because Dick's is much more appealing in atmosphere and price).
My opinion is that if a big box store specializes in something and doesn't have major competition, it'll be fine (for the foreseeable future, at least).

Best Buy and Barnes & Noble are the survivors. Remember Circuit City and Borders?
Fun fact: CC is coming back, but as a limited boutique instead of a superstore model.
It's the mega stores that do this ex: Target and Walmart. They have such strong purchasing power and such massive space, they can offer some of what those previously mentioned stores did, but at better prices still. I think a tech place like BB and CC will be able to survive their continued assault because the tech category is so large and growing. New advancements with TV resolution, 3D printers, and VR will continue to keep them viable. Plus, they go hand-in-hand with e-commerce.
One store that has seemingly everything but you wouldn't think of: Staples. I was in there the other day, and they have a massive aisle of cleaning products. Paper towels, Windex, you name it. I don't know who their competition is since they ate up OfficeMax.Last edited by slickdtc; 05-02-2016, 11:54 AM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Driving from Dallas to Santa Rosa Beach, FL
Any ideas on the best place for an overnight stop? I was in NO 2 months ago, so avoiding there would be fine.Comment

I'm surprised liquor stores still exist here now that Meijer and Walmart sell them, and cheaper. At least the liquor stores in the business areas, I get the convenience of the residential area ones. I can't remember the last time I bought booze from somewhere other than a superstore, I might get tobacco there but it's probably only a matter of time til pipe tobacco is at the big place tooWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

A man I have come to revere in the past five years or so I've found out today is two years younger than me. It's odd to look up to somebody younger than yourself.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
