I rarely cry watching news stories but this absolutely broke my heart. I know the reporter who truly is a great guy...he was even crying at this poor woman's circumstance.

With everything in the political world surrounding the election, protests/riots, etc...I wanted to point this out because there are genuine people in the media who care.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I did an acoustic cover of a song and posted it to Facebook a couple of months ago.

Now they're making a big stink about copyright infringement, removing my video, and possibly disabling my account if my actions continue.

Heh, I mean I gave the band credit... I understand the issue I suppose, but I didn't know that covers weren't allowed. They are on YouTube.

I didn't know that was a thing on Facebook either. Seems weird because as far as I know artists don't see any money from FB videos like they can from YouTube. I guess the exposure is the difference... even though FB decides who sees what.

I bet they're gonna move in that direction if they haven't already (compensating artists). FB video is already as or more popular then YouTube at this point, and if not it's coming. The sheer audience of FB dwarves anything on the Internet.

That's pretty crazy I mean if you give credit and tell people to check out the band then doing a cover should be under fair use. I mean it's not like you're making money off of singing an acoustic cover.

Unfortunately slickdtc is right, it seems even innocent things like this are going to get clamped down no matter what it seems.

That sucks. I regularly go through youtube looking for amateur covers of my favorite songs. I uploaded a couple videos from an Alter Bridge concert I went to last week and youtube said it was a copyright infringement, but they never removed it or removed the audio. Now it isn't even tagged as an infringement anymore.

Fair use is super hard to nail down. I would be more inclined to agree with that statement than to disagree (especially given the case of 2 Live Crew's use of Pretty Woman), but LA Times v. Free Republic did set the precedent that even some non-commercial use isn't protected since the public obtained material that it would have otherwise had to pay for at no cost. However, in this case I wouldn't have thought that would be an issue... Copyright law is weird.

It seems to be one of the more arcane and restrictive set of laws around. I get the sense that they make it up as they go along too. The rise of corporations wanting to hold onto their intellectual property as long as possible has made it so that it only serves them rather than all of society IMO.

While piracy remains a prickly issue (mods if you think this part is not for OS please delete) I do think when everything is stacked against the general population as well as insane pricing for access to materials I can see why some do it.

Old people can be some of the rudest people on the planet. Had a 70+ year old woman tell me to #$#@ off because I grabbed the last rotisserie chicken at Wal Mart. Like had it in my cart and was walking away before she got there "took".

Yeah, old people can get rude and cranky at you. However, 3-5 year-old kids will say soul destroying things right to your face. They're the real villains in the world.

My niece is a little too young for that stage but she's gotten into a habit now of ignoring EVERYONE as soon as she sees her grandmother. It's amusing but it makes the rest of us feel "unloved" LOL

Young kids and old people just tell you what we all want to say but don't. Young kids I guess don't have that filter yet that it's rude to call people fat even if they are fat. Old people just don't care anymore.

The last few weeks, I have noticed cars parking behind my garage on the back lane - day and night. One night I went out and asked the car owner what they were doing there. Apparently there is a Pokemon-Go hotspot behind my property, which attracts people every day and night.

I have contacted Niantic and submitted an online request to remove this hotspot, but who knows if they ever will. I have also contacted some local new station, hoping to make some fuss about it.

Does anyoen have an idea what else I can do?

Niantic should remove it once they get to it.
