    Terrorism in Orlando

Around 20 people dead, around 40 injured at a gay nightclub in Orlando. Guy came in around 2am firing, got into a gun fight with police then went back in and took hostages. He had some sort of device on him which was controlled detonated after.

FBI and police have confirmed that this is at the very least being investigated as domestic terrorism. Authorities and reporters at the presser were trying to get at it but they were dancing around until things were 100 percent confirmed.

    Disgusting. Sickening. Evil.

It always amazes me, that they have to figure out of it was terrorism. Well no ****. Any mass shooting is terrorism.

Terrible thing, it's weird how that girl on the voice was gunned down in Orlando on the same day. Even though there's no supposed connection.

That's not true actually. While all mass shootings are *terrifying*, not all mass shootings are terrorism. Terrorism is violence driven by political, ideological, religious, etc reasoning.

They're gonna hold another presser in at 9:30am et. Hopefully with more information.

I don't care what the actual term means, terrorism has always been used for one purpose and that's to create terror, and to hit national headlines for exposure.

Nobody does this to be quiet, they want this posted all over the world to see.

They should change the definition of terrorism to "the work of cowards" because that is all it really is.

            Up to 50 dead.

This is sounding a lot like Paris.

Such a terrible story, I don't care what your ideology is but there really needs to be a serious accounting of how access to assault rifles and such can seemingly be so easy. I would have to classify this as domestic terror though I see it more as a specific act of terror rather than something that's seemingly general and nebulous. This guy was definitely going for the gay community as a backdrop to his larger views on the "decadence of America". Hopefully this guy was just a one off even though there are indications he has leanings towards radical islamic tendencies.

50+ deaths...Damn, people were just out having a good time. No one should expect to feel so unsafe out partying like that. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.

FBI was watching him so He was most likely on the Terrorist watch list, yet Can still go buy a AK-47 or AR-15 with 500 rounds. I know the whole gun control topic is highly politicized but can we seriously not agree that people on terrorist watch lists should be unable to buy a gun that can kill 50 people in a matter of minutes?

Yep, no need to turn this topic political and have it closed up but I think there's SOME common ground that can be made towards common sense thinking.

Disgusting and evil act by a ignorant coward. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. I applaud the brave men and women in Orlando law enforcement who responded to the situation, and to all of the emergency medical personnel who worked to save lives.

Woke up to this just now, what the hell? This is horrible, no one deserves to be slaughtered like this, no one. To be that evil, to want to go after people because of orientation makes no sense.

Noticed that this guy was from Port Saint Lucie, which is where I live. Makes it even scarier.
