81% here and it didn't really seem to get dark, though there was some cloud cover and I was watching it from inside.

Re: Off Topic 2017: Fallen Kingdom

I heard all kinds of superstitions that were supposed to happen during the eclipse, like the wind changing directions, animals acting silly, and temperature getting drastically cooler.

None of those things happened from my experience.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I can't wait until the 2024 eclipse. It will be 100% in my hometown so I'll be going home for that.

Where I live, we got a 90% eclipse. The temperature did drop about six degrees here according to my weather station.

LOL I'm part of the "all lives matter" camp I guess.

By the way, were you insinuating before that spiders live through an ordeal such as going down the shower drain?

The eclipse hype is so ridiculous. The last one was in March 2016. It's not like these things are once in a lifetime event for the planet.

I feel sorry for all the dumb people that burned their retinas today day.

Yeah, but the path of totality is narrow and only crosses a part of the planet, so any one region may only experience a total solar eclipse once in a lifetime unlike lunar eclipses which are more common. For instance, the March 2016 solar eclipse path of totality was over the Pacific ocean so no one on land would have been able to see it in person.

Science wise though we've had opportunities to witness. Just because it hit North America this time doesn't mean winds are changing directions and all animals are going to go crazy.

It was 87 percent covered here. It was a tint darker outside, but nothing too special, not that I expected much. At least it wasn't cloudy.

Yeah there was an astronomer in Oregon yesterday who experienced his 34th total eclipse. I didn't know they were that common, was funny how much hype there was and how it's a once in a lifetime event but oh btw "if you miss it, there's another one in the US in just 7 years." Lol. I guess if you don't have the means to travel or something it could be a once in a life time thing though.
