Next big eclipse is lunar eclipse in January 2019(there's ones before,but this is most visible one in NA). Seems to be starting around 930pm and peak around midnight. It's as good across all of NA as a lunar eclipse can possibly be.
And the 2024 total solar eclipse, it's not gonna be as good as the one this year. Next one similar or better as this past one for most of NA will be around August 2045. So you can see how people view it as "once in a lifetime" because even though eclipses happen often, the chances of it being so visible to you might actually be once or twice in a lifetime.
Last decent lunar eclipse here was 2015, last one as good as the one in 2019 was 2010. And with Solar Eclipse, the last one similar to what we had this year was February 1979. So Lunar Eclipses you can see more regularly, but the Solar Eclipse, you see that in most of NA, it was almost 40 years between real good solar eclipses, and will be almost another 30 years before next real good one. So someone born in 1980 would see just 1 in a 65 year span(and even then,really,anyone under the age of 10 probably won't understand significance of this,so many people born in 70s likely won't have any kind of memories of this)
