That's some massive calorie burn though.

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
Yeah, it was a massive calorie burn, I agree.
I have a question as I'm experiencing muscle soreness.
Is there a weight gain attributed to muscle soreness?
Yesterday, I jumped on the scales and noticed a pretty sizeable weight gain and I thought I've heard that could be from muscle soreness from working out?Comment

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
DJ I been where you were. Was making great money, had a nice house but still depressed. I definitely could point it to the way I was eating and not exercising.
If you want to step out of your comfort zone, try attending yoga classes. That changed my life and put me in the direction of starting a business and really helped me focus on what I wanted to do in life.
It's more than just stretching, way more. I feel depression comes when your body and mind are off balanced and yoga will get you balanced again. Your focus, breathing, stress, mood and body will all change once you get into it regularly. You'll also see an improvement in all other exercises you do like martial arts training, lifting and cardio.
It takes awhile and you'll feel uncomfortable but once it clicks you'll be amazed.
I noticed you lived in AZ and I can suggest places to go if you are in the east valley or maybe meet with my teacher. A lot of gyms offer it, my favorite gym is Lifetime Fitness.Comment

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
I need some advice or something from you OS'ers. I got under 200 month or so ago. The wheels come off at times, ha. I need something different or something to focus on. I tried cross fit, just wasn't for me after 3 months.
I'm sitting at 205, with probably 10 pounds in my gut.
How the heck can i get rid of that and get me on track? Yes, the diet plays a huge role and I honestly don't eat terribly. I just tread water between 200 and 207. Drives me nuts.
I feel like i need something to focus on or a change of sorts and i dont know where to look. Figured i'd post here and see if anyone had any advice, tips, etc.
I feel like with some focus i can get myself down to 190.

Another thing I know works well is intermittent fasting. There are different methods but one's I've tried and worked are eating within an 8 hour period and not eating any time before or after that. So you can skip breakfast and only eat from 12 pm to 8pm. Best to look up online for a plan.
I'm currently trying the method of fasting 2 times a week for 24 hours each time. I'm doing this for healing psoriasis which has been working amazingly and at the same time I'm losing weight.
Not sure if its also taking away muscle but I don't care at the moment because my main focus is healing and it's been working. I'm also following the Paleo diet at the same time.Comment

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
I have a YMCA and it's $51/mo which is a bit steep but it's served me well so far. I have no desire to hoop with the young kids as it's just not fun any more. Plus I can't afford an injury at this point. Point being, I just use it for the weight room.
I pushed myself a bit on legs the other day and "It's not worth it" is my mindset right about now. My quads are so sore it's limiting me in normal activities.

It wasn't that bad, 50 bucks a month when I was going and I would spend 2-3 hours, 5 times a week there. So it was less than a dollar a day.Comment

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
We are members of Xperience Fitness and they have a spin room, pool and suana with a ton of cardio/weights and machines. Also, a huge exercise studio to boot and the premier membership(classes and tanning booths) are 18 bucks per month.
Our daughter has a membership at Planet Fitness and she pays 10 bucks a month for the use of equipment plus she can hire a trainer.
That place is located in a mall and I don't feel like being in a cage with onlookers looking at my side of beef sweating up a storm. lolComment

Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge
Well, Summer is coming to a close and the change of seasons is always a weird time. I feel like my motivation slacks off around the transfer from Summer to Fall. I'm inside more as the weather cools and the evening sunlight dissipates. Not to mention I went on vacation last week and it's always hard to regain that motivation from before. Plus, getting back into the rhythm of actually exercising after lounging for a week is always a fight.
In order to prevent this annual apathy I decided to switch to a different routine. I've been doing Insanity for about 6.5 years. I'm used to coming home and doing the 50-65 minute workouts. Changing to something different causes a bit of anxiety to me because I fear back-pedaling and gaining weight which I know is mostly unfounded but such is life.
This week I started one of the HASFit routines. I have been using HASfit as a resource for about a year now, but this is the first time I've done an actual program-routine apart from the 30 Day Abs.
To those who are unfamiliar HASfit is a donation-based fitness website with countless exercise videos and a handful of workout routines designed for all levels. They have even started maintaining a monthly exercise schedule for those looking to keep things fresh.
I'm 4/5 of the way through Week 1 of the 90 Day Warrior Program. I think I underestimated my level of experience because its been fairly easy. Not to say I'm not exerting myself or drenched in sweat, but being used to going 20-30 minutes of HIIT the first week hasn't pushed my cardio. It has, however, pushed my resistance training immensely and this is where it improves upon my old Insanity routines.
Most of these exercises have various modifications for low-impact or increased resistance through small weights. The day after the Home Strength Training routine I was definitely feeling my muscles. The increased resistance throughout these workouts is a great touch and something that builds upon my experiences with Insanity which was strictly bodyweight resistance while mainly focusing on cardio.
I will probably finish out the week on the Warrior routine before moving onto the 90 Day Hero workout since that seems to be more stringent and more in-line with what I'm used to from Insanity.
Either way between HASfit and Insanity I think I can jump off the plateau and keep things from becoming stale.
