Well based on his previous descriptions of his boss you never know.

That doesn't mean I don't agree with you. When my employees call off I don't do any snooping and in fact I actually ask them to give me as little detail as possible.

Again though, I'm oversensitive to it, if I were to get fired for anything ethical I would lose my bonding and would never be able to be hired for a financial industry job again.

The bold is fairly common from my experience. Supervisors know that sometimes employees lie about their health, but typically they don't want to catch them on the lie unless the employee is genuinely terrible. Firing and hiring a replacement is a pain, so much so that employers will often prefer keeping a mediocre employee.

Also, again, stomach virus guys. Not only is it short lasting but who is going to want more details when you say you got the ****s?

Either that or call in sick in the morning and say you think you came down with food poisoning. “I’ve been stuck in the bathroom all morning.” Lol.. something like that. That might be embarrassing but no one is gonna question that and the good thing about that excuse is food poisoning goes away in a day or two so you don’t have to go into work the next day trying to act like you’re still a little sick.

Nah, that's no good. What if they call the fire department to break you out? Could be misinterpreted. Better to phrase it as "I've had the hot greazy stanks all morning."

But when it comes to work, as a bonded employee I could literally be fired for lying about anything (ethics) so it's not something I mess around with.

I've seen people fired for the dumbest things when if they would have just told the truth they would have been given a warning but still had a job.

So yea, not opposed morally to lying (to get out of work), just conditioned not to lol.
Also, word is bond. I believe hip hop has established this quite clearly.

Well, "disconnectors" is sort of made up. I mean it's not hard to see what that means. Most of the others were honest-to-goodness old timey insults. When a man insulted another man with class and wit. And funny-sounding words.

Lol I actually googled most of his words... they’re all legit. Been online gaming for almost 15 years and have never heard of them though lol(aside from the obvious cheeser or disconnector ones).

Personally...I wouldn't tell your boss if he's pretty difficult to deal with as he could use that against you if you aren't offered/don't accept the job. I went thru that a couple of years ago - I went thru the interview process, chose not to accept the job and didn't tell my boss about any of it, just took the day off and said it was a personal matter...the next year, when my department went thru some downsizing, I got thru it and didn't worry any that my boss would think I could get on somewhere else quickly and get cut.

Typically days off during tax season is an automatic No. Obviously there are exceptions for things like funerals and similar emergencies. Of course, taking time off for doctors/dentists/random things like that is generally OK. My only concern is the amount traveling I'll have to do during the work day next week. If this was a place in the same town I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I definitely appreciate it. I feel like saying I have personal stuff to take care of will only raise questions. He already thinks something is going on (he asked a coworker if a family member of mine was dying) since I had to take a couple calls yesterday and shut my office door.

I talked to a coworker about it yesterday and she said she would lie her *** off to get out here. I'm not sure how comforting that is in the grand scheme of things, but it makes my decision to use a dental excuse somewhat easier.

Honestly, I am probably way overthinking this and giving him more credit than I realize. I doubt he would think I'm leaving or something like that, but stranger things have happened before.

My boy's basketball team just finished up an undefeated season. They're younger (my son is 7), but they knew exactly what was at stake. Was really cool to watch and coach those kids.

I'm not good with computers but when this happened to me recently I got some thermal glue to secure the heatsink, probably stuff you already know though

I'm good with computers when it comes to software, but poking around the insides is unfamiliar territory for me. I've installed a new graphics card before but that is about it

Edit: Case in point when I ordered the computer I elected for liquid cooling. Well I forgot I did that because it was one of those small AIO units. I just happened to see the label and saw "Asetek 550LC" and thats when it hit me, "oh yeah numbnuts, its suppose to be a liquid cooled system, why don't you give those two hoses a feel? I bet they're warm"
