Funny moment in class today. I am teaching an Engineering course and we are doing a redesign on an item, so currently we are next to begin the disassembly stages.

A student popped into class who had been absent, asked what we were doing today, and I said: "We have disassembly next."

Another student overheard the conversation, and said: "Dere's an assembly dis period?"

Ah, the beauty of slang.

Now is the time to start using Christmas gift cards. Springtime, so all winter stuff on sale. I've seen one place I have a gift card for selling tops for 80% off. Just hate shopping online at times, never knowing how anything fits. Usually it ends up fine, but some stuff I bought, the neck seems big. Apparently there's some laundry detergent made to combat this type of stuff, but if the tops are made with big neck for some reason, don't know if it can be fixed.

I’m just worried it’s affecting this person’s, like, view of the world and themselves. Specifically talking about Instagram. If the only accounts you follow portray the perfect version of that, you’ll never be able to live up to it. That’s my concern.

Ok, if you have a choice when it comes to taking medicine, do you prefer pills/gelcaps or liquid?

Personally, if given the choice I always take liquid. While it tastes awful, I think it works much quicker, and even better than pills/gelcaps.

You should take whatever your personal preference is.

However, pills/gelcaps (unless it's slow release with a special coating) dissolve the instant they hit your stomach acid. So there is basically no difference in how long a drug takes to fully be in in your system between the two. Effectiveness is the same between the two.

But if in your mind the liquid works faster or better, you're probably feeling better, so keep doing what you're doing. Our brains are good at this.

I do pills/caps unless it's cough medicine because you do get that coating on your throat that feels good for a minute.

Not a kid anymore, but I have a hard time taking pills, especially some of the bigger cold/flu tablets. I look for liquid.

If you have “read receipts” on (iPhone or Facebook messenger, probably other messaging apps), you can tell when someone has read or seen your message. If you see they’ve seen/read it but never responded, which is different from it simply being delivered successfully, then you’ve been “on read”.

I’ve never heard it referred to in that tense, but it makes sense. I’d just say you’re being ignored.
