Nice. I was actually a member here way before i had this name. Wayyy back there. But i stopped playing Madden that religiously for a couple of years, and i stopped coming to OS. By the time i returned to OS, i had forgotten my password and which email i used and everything. So i lurked unsocially for a few years. Then i created this name in 16 when i had a question or problem i think. I wish i remembered what year i actually first signed up here. If i think long enough i can probably figure it out.

Allow me to be sappy for a moment. This is my Dad with my sister.
IMG_1691.jpg
A week ago we didn’t know if he’d be here and today he is dancing at his daughter’s wedding.
Sent from my iPhone using Operation SportsI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Not going to hijack your post, but just as a small connection...
Spoiler
Holy crap, that reminds me of my dad's predicament as well. A few days before my sister's wedding, his diabetes was affecting him to the point that he was hospitalized, and I think they hopped him up the right way so he could appear, and he did in full force with a knockout speech and dance with her.
He lived another three years, and checked off his bucket list of:
- Seeing my older sister marry.
- Seeing me graduate college.
- Seeing my younger sister graduate high school.
For whatever reason I cannot recall, I was thinking about him a lot last night, and would give anything to have him here now.
Please savor every lasting moment you have with your father.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Want to vent about job search experiences.
SpoilerApplied for a position with a nearby, but out of state city in the planning department. The very next day on my lunch break I get a call from the director wanting to set up an interview. Those of you familiar with government jobs knows that is not typical.
The posting was full time with pay depending on qualifications.
I arrive for the interview and this guy does not follow any guidelines whatsoever. 90% of the time he was just chatting about the job, as if I already had it. He said based on my resume and phone conversation I was exactly the candidate he was looking for so I left feeling pretty damn good.I was told to expect to hear something by the end of that week. Pay was discussed.
Well I didn't, so the following Wednesday I sent a follow up email. Shortly after I get an email offering me the position, only it was now part time (no benefits)with a lower than discussed pay.
Not thrilled about this but my current situation dictates that I take the position, so I replied back. I then get an email asking me to come in for a 2nd interview. Okay now I'm really confused. But I show up and its more of the same, its not an interview. He shows me around, shows my office, talks about the city's plans, etc. Asks me when can I start and we do paperwork for the background check.
That was going on 3 weeks ago and haven't heard since. The posting is no longer listed on the city website, but the staff directory is not updated either.
Local government is notorious for dragging their feet, but damn this has been amateur hour. The silent treatment is acceptable when they first get a application and disqualify the person immediately, but once you get this far in the process there needs to be communication.Comment

I've gotten so used to following up that I have an email template that I can fill in relevant info and copy/paste the rest.Comment

re: Off-Topic
This has been the majority of my interview experiences. I had one for a position with a concussion management team. Spent 5 hours shadowing the team and chatting with them like I was already part of it. There was another person interviewing the next day and the director said they'd have a decision by the end of the week. Fast forward 2 weeks later and I had to contact them to find out that they hired the other person.
