So, if there are twins born during the 2 a.m.savings time change over and the first is born at 1:57 a.m. and the second is born six minutes later, but it changes over so the time is 1:03 a.m., is the second child technically older?

No, and I'll make the reason a stupid and unobvious one:

If we're going by time signature rather than elapsed time, because that first person's birthday time occurs again, they therefore turn one year old when 1:57 AM hits again.

The next year their birthday will fall on a Monday, so the second twin will be older 6 of 7 days?

Edit, scratch that. 1:03 still comesbefore 1:57, so the seconds time of birth precedes the firsts time of birth.

They should get rid of it.

By making *standard* time the permanent one. Not the fake one. Standard time.

            Daylight savings time ****ing sucks.

Sure, 7 weeks before Christmas, but everywhere already starting their signups for stuff.

Usually the Santa photo signups are like actual good Black Friday deals, you gotta be on the right page at the right time or else the minute it's live it'll be gone within seconds.

Guess this time around they delayed when they promoted it, so I managed to get through before the waves of people go on. Either they're late on when they promoted it, they intentionally didn't promote it/only told a select group of people first so they can get the good slots, or just forgot to send out the notifications to people about it.

One of the things I learned/figured out during the pandemic when everything really started shifting to online specific was being able to sign up/get through to things online before most others. Don't get me started on the vaccine bookings and the dedication/planning it took to sign up for that. The entire city logging on to the site to sign up at the same time...every minute or two that passed, an entire day of appointments got filled, I always got through within the first 10 or so mins/was able to sign up others too, while others could've been trying for over an hour with no luck.

                    Is OS dying?

Seems like this place is more quiet than usual, especially when you consider what’s going on, as far as Sports goes. Place used to be thriving a few years ago but I’m seeing game threads have like 30-40 posts in them, when before they’d get that many for one game.

I started noticing the Pro Football section shrinking as far as posts go, also the same with the Madden section, I understand with the release of CFB the Madden section would get a little slower, but the drop-off has been more that I even thought it would be.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

It's been slowly dying for a while, and it's very sad to see. I think people said Twitter was the problem, but I don't really know.

I could see maybe 5-10 years ago thinking twitter was an alternative to this site, but I don't really see it like that in 2024. I think it's easier to break off into smaller communities on other platforms now. Discord in particular has created communities with communities, where you can basically have the equivalent of text threads between friends and other people in that community.

Forum sites in general feel like they are hanging by a thread (pun intended), and it's pretty sad that Reddit has replaced them in many people's minds. This site has somehow managed to largely avoid the toxic hell that was message boards from the 2000s-2010s, with a pretty open door for newcomers.

Man you hit the nail on the head with that last part. One of the reasons why I kept coming here was because you could discuss any sport/game with a wide range of people without it getting TOO crazy. Definitely learned a lot of stuff from folks on here too. I started noticing the participation was declining when there would be certain big events and the threads would only be like 10 pages, compared to the 30-40+ page thread(10ppp user over here).

I do feel like OS has lasted longer than I thought it would, considering all the other options that people have gotten over the last 10 years or so. I

Yeah I think Discord has done a bigger number on forums than Twitter. Discord is the medium between a website forum and an easy to use app. I think there was a rush to Twitter, but it has since rubberbanded as people who frequent forums realized they didn’t want to talk with the WHOLE world. I’ve never felt the urge to blast my sports opinion in to the void of social media but have no problem doing that here.

I’ve not participated in the weekly NFL threads because my view defaults to “Participated” threads, so only ones I’ve already interacted with. If I forget to post in the weekly thread, I’ll miss it completely. But I’m not trying to dig through every forum every time I’m on here. I still use the OS mobile app, basically Tapatalk, so when it crosses my mind I’ll go to the whole forum view but I have not done it a lot this season, clearly!

This is still where I go for the most intelligent sports discussion. I recently came across an article discussing this forums vs social media phenomenon. Guess which forum appears in their list of top spots for the sports genre?

Internet forums are still alive and kicking and full of information. Here are the best niche communities I could find that are alive and well.
                              NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
                              NFL - Buffalo Bills
                              MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I think we are ageing out a bit. Look at most of our start dates. I don't know about you gentlemen, but I'm 51 now. I started here back when I started teaching during my lunch breaks. I came here from GameFaqs when ParedFIA told me about OS.

I'm here almost daily, I just tend to read more now in my old age and don't contribute as much as I should. I do like that as long as I've been a member here, the mods have done their best to keep topics on point and have kept politics and any other topics out of the forms.

I really hope OS isn't dying. It has been a constant in my life since I joined. I've met some good friendships here that have found their way to Xbox Live, PSN, Facebook, X and to a few guys I text. Also, there is honestly nowhere better to get video sport game news. I don't us Discord often and Reddit makes me feel like I have ADHD and i can't focus on any one thing.

                                OS is more my speed.

If I have not said it before, I appreciate all of you.

P.S. Long live the Annual Christmas Thread!!!
