I have a window fan with a temp setting, I set that bugger to 65. It constantly turns on and off when it's at 65 and drives me crazy. This thing is like "oh no it's 65, better turn off! (5 seconds later) Oh no it's 65, better turn on!"

I wanna run the fan when it's cool at night so the AC can rest, but oof, I'm at the point of just letting it run overnight with no setting and get super cold, I sleep better in cold than with fan clicking on and off constantly anyway

property manager sent me a text today that there's a bee nest outside my patio door and our handyman will be removing it and spraying tomorrow morning and I need to inform them if bees get in my apartment

they will last time they did this I spent an entire summer killing dozens of hornets every day. I messaged her back about using the yellow goop foam that caused this problem last time, and she said "yep, that's what we're doing".

      ****

I legitimately thought I was being helpful, like hey maybe don't use that goop, or maybe don't rely on the handyman to do something an exterminator should do, but nope, beepocalypse bout to happen again

My school has received social media shooting threats for tomorrow. I'm still attending, and only hope I can keep my babies (for those who choose to attend tomorrow) safe should anything happen.

I don't want to rule out any possibility of credibility here, as it is always the one that isn't taken seriously enough that slips through and is a reality. Just thought I'd mention it here for now.

Let's hope for a good Friday the 13th.

Seem to be a rash of online threats going around lately. Been seeing a lot of reports of them in the Pittsburgh area too.

Here (about 20 mins south of Philadelphia), my son’s school called and sent emails about threats made by an unknown FaceTime caller to a student (these kids are in 5th grade or under). They mentioned this has been going on all over the country, so seeing it here at home on OS hits a little harder.

I was ready to drive 120 MPH to that school if **** was going down.

People making these threats need to be prosecuted to fullest extent of the law and made an example of, or this will just continue. Enough of this garbage.

Yep, same with Swatting. Down here this week there were middle school kids making threats man, middle school.

Just as an update, our school really beefed up its security for the day, and I want to say about 65% of students stayed home overall. There were four schools on the list (we were on the top), and midday one of the other schools went into shelter-in-place protocol. Not sure if something specifically happened or not.

Hoping nothing was intending to carry through, but I prepared everything to keep my babies (that were there) in my classroom secure.

I know teachers can't be armed or whatever, but I'm thinking of investing in a bulletproof vest and keeping it in one of my closets there.

The first time I heard about bulletbroof backpacks it made me sad. I also thought "that's actually not a bad idea", and then it made me more sad

You really should reconsider, given the direction America could be heading with the influx of immigration and there being very little accountability at the border until recently.

I am not attempting to make this political. Those are just facts. It doesn't matter whose side of the crooked political spectrum gets unnerved when the discussion isn't about candidates but about real-life issues.

I have numerous kevlar vests. When I say numerous, I mean that emphatically. It is a great thing to invest in for your own protection and your family's safety. I have kevlar in the doors of my family's vehicles because I have worked in areas where drive-by pop-pops weren't even considered newsworthy. It is best to be safe when the ability to do so is accessible as it is right now. Really, the best idea is to drive something that doesn't stand out, as would-be criminals are less likely to be drawn to it.

If anyone has the thought to get some kevlar for yourselves or your family, to save money, I would recommend reaching out to your local police departments and asking them if they have any vests or protection that has expired.

The expiration dates on the vests are what they are, but if it is possible to get recently expired protection for little or no money, the opportunity needs to be taken. Kevlar does degrade, so please be aware of that. If possible, double-stacking layers would be wise when dealing with expired material.

Which direction is that exactly? As I see it, people already in (didn't immigrate "recently") are doing the heavy lifting on all the shooting going on.

You aren’t wrong. America’s refusal to address our mental health issues nationwide is among our most vulnerable weaknesses and has been for a generation. What I was speaking of really hasn’t made the mainstream news, only regional news outlets where the incidents have occurred, if at all. There are videos, pictures, witness narratives and more that would make most of our citizens feel very unsettled/unsafe.

I am part of law enforcement groups on Telegram and several other platforms. There are many groups out there that are fringe, I’d say, and they have to be filtered through to find people that are actually intelligent and not down in some theoretical rabbit hole wearing a tinfoil hat or pushing political propaganda just to cause unrest.
