As much of a bummer as it is to see good people pass away, it is yet another example of how social media is just one cycle of misery after another. Which leads people to think that every year is horrible and garbage. If it's not a feed full of "RIP Celebrity" it's someone's pet dying, or a go-fund-me for a family member with cancer, etc. The intentions are good, but the end result is the perception of nonstop misery. Just imagine what it'll be when the Google hivemind state really kicks in.

Re: Off-Topic
My wife and I had an unexpected kid free night so I asked her if she would want to go to Oxford, MS to watch Auburn play Ole Miss. She was okay with going so I got on the computer to try to find cheap tickets and a hotel room.
The only thing I could find available were $60+ fee tickets in the rafters and $300+ fee tickets in the lower section. The demand to watch Auburn basketball right now is insane.. games at Auburn arena are either sold out or you're going to pay $400+.
I thought the price was too much so I was about to say nevermind or just sit in the nosebleeds. I got on Twitter to check something and saw an Auburn account I follow had retweeted someone who said they had 5 tickets to the game and could only use 3 of them and any Auburn fan that wants the other 2 can have them.
I'm thinking okay I don't know this person at all but maybe it's worth a shot? So I sent them a message saying I was interested and they sent me their phone number to text. After a few back and forth of me offering to pay for them and everything he sent me screenshots of two tickets.
So the wife and I booked it to Oxford (about 2 hours west), ate dinner, and checked into a hotel. Then we went to the game and it was a lot of fun. We sat right next to them and it turns out the guy was going to the game with his wife and grandson and they were super super nice people.. totally normal and friendly.
It's really nice to see that there are really kind people out there still and was also cool that an unusual internet interaction turned into a perfectly normal in-person thing. I'm a serial overthinker but glad I texted the guy.
Just thought I would share because you get on the internet and become instantly convinced everything in this world is bad which isn't always the case. Everyone is a self diagnosed introvert now and that's just not how the average person is wired to be.

Its probably just the fact that its the middle of winter and really the first Sunday with snow already on the ground (last week the storm happened Sunday night/Monday morning), but it just feels like a dull time.
This is the part of winter I hate. We're a month removed from Christmas, and over a month to go until the weather really starts getting warmer, and we have things like playoff races heating up and ST on the horizon.Comment

Re: Off-Topic
for me January AND February are dull because it seems the color has drained out of the world, everything seems to be all greys and white, and the few things that aren't, are grays and eggshell white and beige. March can't get here quick enough. March is like ''Christmas, Part II'' for me. colors start seeping back in and March is almost like the real start of the new year.
anyways, January and February are the absolute worst. the other 10 months are chock full of goodness IMO
In January, you still have February to go.
The 2nd half of January is the main part that it starts to suck. First half is still the new year, you might have been off for a few days or weeks, so you're now just getting back into things.
March-May the weather gets warmer, things bloom/grow again, days get longer.
June-August is summer.
September is the end of summer, but you might have been off in August even if for a short time, so after Labour day, it still feels different.
Here, October is Thanksgiving AND Halloween.
November is US Thanksgiving + start of Christmas season
December is Christmas season
So it's easy to see why January/February suck. Valentines Day is clearly a scam, let's create some actual holiday/event in February that makes this part of the year more exciting.Comment
