I think it's also due to location.

Drive through require your store being located in specific places/having room around the store for it.

A regular shop can open up anywhere.

Most subways I've seen are typically in locations where I can't picture a drive through being added to the place, there's just no room.

Probably less need for one there vs places with burgers, coffee and other things.

      This.

I had never seen a drive through Papa John's or Domino's when I lived in Pennsylvania or Florida. They also were always a part of a plaza so there was pretty much no way they could have a drive through.

Now, there is a Domino's near my house that is it's own building, giving them the ability to have a drive through. The same with a Papa John's I pass on the way to work.

On the flip side, it's also a reason why some places don't exist in some neighborhoods.

In Canada, there's a Tim Hortons everywhere....except where I live. Closest one is a 5+ min drive away. Only because around where I live there isn't space for drive throughs.

I had no idea that pizza places (anywhere in the world) had drive-thrus. I have never seen one (to my knowledge), and I've lived in a lot of different cities - albeit all in the US. I'm not even sure why that would help anything? I guess if they just have a bunch of medium pepperoni pizzas sitting around already made under the heat lamps, that might be amenable to a drive-thru. Otherwise, it seems like it wouldn't accelerate anything in terms of efficiency for a pizza place.

I think it's funny that Tim Hortons' ubiquity in Canada is so overwhelming that you state there isn't a Tim Hortons near where you live - you have to drive 5+ minutes away to find one (!). Good stuff.

Most of the chain places here are in strip malls or tucked into supermarket shopping centers where the parking sucks.

I went to a Little Caesars with a drive thru on Super Sunday. Called beforehand, but the car line was 3 or 4 deep, so I decided to go in and pick it up. With COVID restriction and all of that I was the only person inside, but the poor guy was having a terrible time dealing with the drive thru window and myself.

1 guy for the window, the phone and whoever decided to enter in person. 1 person doing the pizzas and 1, I supposed, was on her lunch break watching it all unfold while talking on the her personal phone.

It helps for those who order before hand and do not want to get out of their car.

we used to have a local drive thru Pizza Hut, I loved it because I'm a stuffed crust fan and they were pretty much the only option. I could order online, go to a store or two while it cooked, and swing back around to pick it up on the way home, I miss it, that was good stuff

There is one location that has a drive-thru here. It's in an area where there is a lot of vehicle traffic as opposed to foot (near a mall, other shopping, and a couple hotels). Seems to get a lot of use.

Time changed this past weekend (I guess all this talk about eliminating time change is still just talk), but ironically for me, even though time went forward an hour, it feels like it went back an hour. I get hungry an hour earlier, and tired earlier too, when it should be the exact opposite of that.

And a bit off topic from that, but its middle of March and I see people still have Christmas lights on. Its not even 1 or 2 houses, it's a noticable amount of people. What's up with that? Someone this week is also now throwing away their Christmas tree too (I dont even think the city picks them up anymore, they only do in January).

Down here I see a lot of people that have screened in pools have Christmas lights up at night around the screened in area. Get white lights so you can use them year round
