My first year was 2012, and the first (and only) infraction I ever received was that year in the Madden 2013 impressions thread lol. Those were the days.

CAPs were the main reason to join a site like this back then.

Can't believe there was a time we had to manually create guys. The amount of time that alone took was crazy.

For me, the computer was upstairs and my console was downstairs, so to make it worse, I had to write out everything on a piece of paper for each guy and bring the paper with me when I was creating the guy.

And having to rename all the "SCABs".

I remember my wife being so pissed at me for using our printer ink for the 2005 Madden Manifesto...hell I think I still have my notebook with the Manifesto...

Funny how tech nowadays would've helped lots back then but things are so advanced that we don't need this tech for those purposes.

Having a phone or tablet that you could've just had all this info on would've helped so much, but by time you had smartphones and tablets, you already had wifi/roster updates anyways.

Funny thing, I think I found (and have probably since thrown away) old papers I had with the roster updates on them.

The tough part of being a sports video game fan in the early 00s. Multiple games wanting to do roster updates for, and CAPs for your own team and any top young guys from around the league.

The annual "negotiations" with my ISP.

Surprisingly went better than I thought. I would've settled for paying the same price as my last deal, was expecting the actual offer to be more than I've been paying, only to find out their offer to me was LESS than I was previously paying for the exact same service.

One of the only times over the last several years that I've been really going at them over these prices that I actually got a good deal with little effort on my end.

It's sad how this is even a thing. I like getting the deals, but it's ridiculous how it's even legal for them to charge different prices to different people. Imagine buying lunch and finding out the person ahead of you paid less for the exact same meal.

Got this coming up with Comcast next month. Money wise I can't see paying almost 200$ a month this go around.

I'm surprised US prices are that high. Would've thought they'd be way cheaper. Especially compared to Canadian prices where apparently we have some of the highest ISP prices (per capita?) among first world countries.

I remember this exact situation when I was young with NCAAF, I had a notebook downstairs to write all the player info and bring it upstairs later when the PC was free and fill in all the names of the players

I spent more time working on my rosters than I actually spent playing the game.

My roommate from 15 years ago let me use her laptop to make it easier, I referred to her laptop as "rosters machine"

then I realized you could just download rosters online and that was basically my OS origin story

I also noticed a difference in how I suddenly stopped being familiar with all the names of the pro players after that. Like, once I no longer did all this college research, I barely knew anyone anymore. I kinda miss looking all that stuff up and watching the draft and seeing a guy picked in the 5th round and thinking "oh that guy was a 97, that's a great pick!"

To this day I'll remember the most random guys because I remember having to create or rename them in games. Kerry Ligtenberg on the Jays in MVP Baseball 2005 I think was one of the guys you had to rename since he wasn't in the game.

My roster knowledge isn't what it was in the mid 00s. Back then with all the roster moves and amount of time I played franchise mode, I knew all the guys back then. Playing franchise modes today is more challenging not knowing most of the guys in the league.

This was me with WWF games.

Sports games I tended to just play with rosters as they were, though I remember my mind being blown the first time I was able to connect my PS2 to the internet and download rosters.

When you refer to Canadian ISP prices, are you referring to internet alone or bundled with cable/mobile phone? Because the $200 price Lambert mentioned is likely and interent + cable bundle and the cable part takes up the bulk of that cost.
