I have heard chatter from the talking heads on my tv the last couple weeks again about ending it altogether but I didn't think it would be the federal government that wanted to end it, that sort of mildly surprised me. I thought it would be each individual state that would decide to end using daylight savings time because that's how it came about in the US. No idea about Canada. In the US it evolved over many years where each state started using it at various times. This wasn't a thing that was put into place and every state started using it on the same exact date. Heck, some states never adopted it, so I've always thought any state that decided it didn't work to their benefit would be able to opt out. I apologize if this post is against TOS. I certainly don't intend to make a political statement with it. I personally don't care either way. I just would think there should be nothing holding any state from rejoining the other states that don't use DLS.
EDIT - So i was just reading the law and it does indeed state explicitly that any state can absolutely opt out at any time it chooses. To which I then further extend my previous statement by adding that any state that wants to keep using it shouldn't be forced by the feds to stop using.
