Every time I go to a Walgreens/CVS/generic pharmacy I get lost and can't never find what I want right away. Feel like when I was a kid I could find everything I wanted instantly and instinctively.

Maybe that's a function of pharmacies getting worse at arranging things or maybe, since kids don't really have any real use for a Walgreens except for the candy/toys section, remembering two aisle was easier?

I've heard they ( not Walgreens specifically, just "they"), I've heard they constantly rearrange to get you down aisles you wouldnt normally go down. Disingenuous. .

I swear each Walmart and Publix in my area has a different layout.

I can deal with that. Where I breakdown is when my local grocery store moves a particular product to a new section. When this happens, all of the employees I just passed on the way to buy say...peanut butter, have all magically disappeared. Now, I'm in a real life version of Oregon Trail, and I'm already in the hole because my crippled butt is slow and i just happened to pick the grocery cart with the bad wheel.

Another thing that is great about the app for the grocery store I get my groceries from (HEB) is that it tells you what aisle items are in if you're in the store.

I only do curbside, but it's nice to know that if I ever have to go in the store, I can use the app to find stuff.

A bit of a comparison from a podcast I was listening to which once again adds to the "feel old yet".

"Old people music" you'd hear on some 90s tv show/sitcom (aka music from the 60s or 70s) by comparison would be like hearing 90s music on tv shows today.

They were talking about having the Monkees as guest stars and being like "the middle aged writers chose a group that they knew, even if the target demo of the show didn't know who they were", but then used the comparison that it would be like middle aged writers of today bringing on the Backstreet Boys to be on a kids show.

And from what I've seen from younger people I work with, I fully believe that too. I've literally gotten comments from people talking about current athletes and I once mentioned some guy from the 00s and their response was "____'s dad!?" which is funny to think that someone who retired 20 years ago and has a kid in pro sports today is viewed as ancient history by the younger generation.

I get that way with gaming consoles. To me a "retro console" is the Genesis, NES, SNES, Dreamcast, Gamecube etc.

Video games are an easy way to tell someone's age too like what consoles they view as retro, or what controller they remember first playing with.

Having people in their 20s (born AFTER OS was even started) now who aren't even old enough to know what gaming was like before WiFi.

I'll never get in to online gaming, even if you have headsets or mics and can talk with all the people you want to play with. I'd choose being in the same room as them over using headsets every single time. Probably just because that's what I was used to. The old "there's only X number of controllers and Y number of people, so whoever loses/dies first has to give up their controller to the next person waiting." Which obviously added competitiveness too but still made it fun.

I literally bought an extra controller during black friday sales for almost this very reason. Much more fun playing together in the same room.

Yeah I get ya. I grew up with couch co-op with my younger brothers and friends. Loved it. Then did the LAN thing a little bit with friends and PC games. I like playing online stuff like the Battlefield series, Destiny for a bit in tight nit groups. Unless I was in a group of people I knew it was and still is hard for me to just spontaneously start talking as it's a mix of anxiety and just not being good talking to random people through voice chat online.


Everything now seems really social, with Discord and streaming. I grew up with mostly text chat so I'm more use to that

I see they're working on a National Shark Alert System, it will work something like the Amber Alert System. I guess if you are in the ocean and a shark is spotted in your area, you'll get a notice on your cellphone to get out .. of .. the .. water.. ??
