That some feel the need to argue which deaths should and shouldn't 'count' is just stupifying. They are all victims of the pandemic.

You know how even a "real" reality TV show is still fake because knowing the cameras are around makes a person the most extreme version of themselves? I tapped out of the thread because it feels like people have jumped the shark into First Take debate editions of their original positions.

          Interesting.

I doubt there will be a shortage though. Men’s one a day has 175% of daily needs of Vitamin D, and there was still plenty of it on the shelves last time I went to Sams Club.

Restaurants in Indiana re-opened yesterday to dine in eating at 50% capacity.

In my area and what I saw, all restaurants were busy.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.

My mom lives in a nursing home in NE Ohio. There were no cases of this until 3 Friday's ago. One person, who lives in a villa/house on the the grounds of this HUGE campus (there is a facility of multiple floors where healthy elderly can live, a nursing/care facility connected (down a LONG wing - with multiple prongs) where my mom lives, and then houses on the campus. Copeland Oaks / Crandall Medical Center - top notch place. Anyways...

They went from 1 case to almost 80 residents and nearly 20 staff in less than 3 weeks. It's running rampant. My mom had a UTI a couple days ago. My dad, who has not seen her since early March, is her caregiver. She has some slight dementia and a type of Parkinson's that has caused an imbalance and she falls a lot. He finally couldn't take care of her. Mom is almost 70. Staff is quitting. They now are short-staffed. Mom didn't receive the care she normally would have because of the lack of help. Her UTI that could have been treated, alongside the dehydration she had, has gotten worse. We can only chalk this up to neglect and the aforementioned staff issues.

She tested negative for the virus a week ago. However, today her condition has worsened. We are hopeful this is only related to the infection, but as the virus has now went throughout the entirety of the campus, our concerns are heightened. This morning she was taken by ambulance with a fever, and now also needs oxygen. They are avoiding hospital trips at all costs because of the deaths (of which have been somewhat "hidden" from all of us) related to the hospital trips, and the potential of bringing the virus into the facility. Well, those fears are now foundless, really.

My dad is distraught. He's fighting for her care, but much of which is falling on deaf ears. He's constantly calling me, and it's exhausting trying to help calm him down - daily. He was never like this years ago.

I just moved back home to minister with the church I grew up in. For those of you who pray, I appreciate those on behalf of mom and dad. And for those of you who are secretly rejoicing that a conservative Christian is dealing with this, that's ok too.

I share this because I'm fully aware of the plight within our nursing homes. Those places have now become death traps. No one knows exactly what has transpired within them because many of them are locked down. In order to get into the facility here, you have to come in via a check-point - and they are armed. It's like a scene out of a movie. We understand this - they are doing the best they can and there is no playbook for this. But my dad has come to grips with the potential the last time he saw his wife of nearly 50 years was in March. He may not see her again. Or if he does, he's not sure when. And the same for me as my mom - I haven't spoken to her in over a week (she was lethargic on Sunday - and we told the doctor what needed done, as if that's our job to tell him. They didn't, in our estimation, react appropriately. But then again, it's one word versus the other). But WHEN will the day come when those facilities become open for family to visit?? Honestly, I have no idea. And I totally get it. Dad put my mom in the best place possible because he could no longer provide for her needs. When falling, he simply could no longer lift her up. Those residents are scared. VERY scared. They feel trapped, and they believe they are living in a toxic lab just hoping to survive. My eyes are opened to this because of my mom's situation. Staff is quitting because of fear. They are trying to hire people like you can't believe, but no takers. And this in a top-rated facility.

As I told dad this morning - this isn't a blip on the screen or a speed bump - this is life altering, and we may never recover from this...ever. We're opening things up this week - and I get that. We can't shut down an economy. But the risks will be huge, and I expect an uptick in cases, and a new set of stay-at-home orders. And what becomes of our world? I don't know. I'm not an alarmist...I'm a realist. But I simply share this for prayer on behalf of my parents, and an insider's look at the nursing home / care facilities dilemma and concerns. Thanks for reading.

                25% in Texas

The capacity numbers are essentially BS though. It's the max legal occupancy. A sit down restaurant is never actually near 100% capacity even on a packed night because they obviously need tables, chairs, and room to walk around. So "50% full" might actually be a normal Friday night.

MK, you got my prayers for you and your family.

I understand where you are coming from. I haven't seen my grandma since early March and my dad hasn't seen his mom since the same time frame.

Grandma is in a 5 star nursing home and I've talked to the person in the social office. It's depressing what seniors in a nursing home are going through and I agree with you, they are doing their best to keep the virus out.

There are four nursing homes in the area and 2 of the 4 have had the virus. Our nursing home has stated that it's unfortunate the virus was in the other facilities because they were trying hard to keep it out.

I am sorry your family is experiencing this with your mom and pray she will come through this. It is a feeling of wanting to be there with her and for her.

My heart and prayers for you and your family.

I would think it would make more sense for restaurants to continue carry-out orders instead of operations of 50%. Margins for restaurants are already slim. Paying extra workers to be in for maybe a few more customers makes no sense.

People generally spend more when dining in.

I've read where some states that have restaurants re-opening, some aren't even re-opening because it's not worth it with 25% or 50% occupancy and people still being cautious on returning.

Sure, they are the victims of the situation. My only issue is with adding them to the numbers that calculate the mortality rate of the actual virus itself.

Dr. Fauci testified before the senate that the deaths are certainly higher than 80,000 people.

Also, there is this from Dr. Fauci:

Dr. Anthony Fauci warned against claims that children are immune to coronavirus, citing new cases where some children have developed a mysterious inflammatory syndrome that could be linked to the virus.

There is so much new information that comes out 24/7 on this virus. The information comes from all corners of the universe.
