I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Honestly going into it I thought it was a cool idea maybe for some of the little kids but for my age group (middle) and older kind of lame, but it was actually really cool. So many kids and families out in their front yards, making signs. Good to see everyone from a distance.
The town I live in, if your kid is having a birthday you can call the fire dept and they will drive by in the truck and a few other vehicles really slow with lights on and do the siren. I was really excited when they came by for my birthday on Monday but it turns out the kid down the street has the same birthday and it was for him...whatever.

I was coming home and got caught behind a caravan like this. Freaked me out, thought the house was on fire or something. People all out on their lawns and stuff. Then I thought I got caught up in a protest.

                Glad it was neither. Heh.

                  Nice.

A bunch of teachers from one of the local elementary schools did a caravan a couple of weeks ago. It was really cool.

Yeah, my kids got that treatment in March, it made their day, and was just as important to the teachers as it was the kids.

                      1) I feel like some have moved the goal posts from bending the curve to trying to prevent every death. That is simply not going to happen.

                      2) I also feel like there is one side that is "We are going to open up and do whatever we want" and a side that is "The government should dictate everything we do" and I am caught in the middle shaking my head at both of them.

Meh, why not just go ahead and ask for $14 Billion... You know the mayor will in time. And as Gov. Cuomo said - "don't pass the buck...pass the buckS."

                          3) When their state opens up slowly, will still wear a mask and practice social distancing with hand washing.

That is the category that I will end up at.

Looks like if nothing too drastic happens over the next week - Maryland will lift the shelter in place and start Phase 1

School has been cancelled for the year. And most likely won't start back up until January 2021.

I know that is the way it is being portrayed, but I don't really believe it's the case.

I think what most people are saying (which if we're being honest, is the same thing that public health officials are saying), is that there isn't one finish line that once you achieve the flat curve the race is then over. It's an ongoing process because there is this resistance line that the curve will keep trying to break until our ability to mitigate it overwhelms the upwards expansion of that curve.

To come full circle, I kind of think of it like this. One of the reasons that Ebola never became wide spread in the US is because of our ability to detect and identify it early before it had a chance to spread. Despite the curve flattening in some cases through mitigation efforts it doesn't really seem like we are close to having the ability to detect covid19 on a scale anywhere near what we need to keep it contained and manageable.

Yea that’s my main thing. Testing and contact tracing aren’t where they need to be and even in places improving there’s still so many cases idk if that stuff would even be effective at that point. Maybe it’s not realistic to ever get this thing under control and if that’s the case than slowly opening things now makes sense but that doesn’t mean it’s a good thing
